A cool $37,363....

The Dolphins may say pass rusher Olivier Vernon isn’t dirty, but the NFL thinks two hits he put on Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota on Sunday were flagrantly illegal.

The NFL has confirmed that Vernon was fined $37,363 for two roughing the passer infractions. The NFL fined Vernon $17,363 for striking Mariota in the knee area in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, and $20,000 for striking Mariota in the head and neck area in the third quarter.

Mariota is also out this week

I'm confused when he hit Mariota near the head. He hit him in the chest, I thought he led with his helmet and that's why he got flagged.

The 2nd hit didn't look like head/neck area to me. Looked like he planted his helmet right in Mariota's sternum...a hit that used to be perfectly legal. I thought the penalty came because he led with the crown of the helmet...meh...it's whatever. Not sure why QBs wear pads (other than maxipads) anyways.

what's the dollar amount gonna be on Brady?

Well, the NFL has said, they are against the hitting of woman, so it may be extreme.

Oh you meant his joke of a fine, nevermind...:foundout:

I'm sure some rich Atlanta fan or player will gladly pay part of that fine. They play Tennessee this week.

Ross can just wager the 37K on a game of checkers with Vernon. Ross isn't very good at checkers.

Since when is the chest considered the head or neck area?

The fans should take up a collection for Brady's knees in 2 weeks. We should have enough raised to offset the fines levied by Kraft...ehh... I mean Goodell.
