Honestly, I think this is a great choice.

We've got nothing right now.

He's a SICK tight end. He's fast, catches the ball extremely well and runs great routes. Despite his grade and the grades of those who will be available at #9, Cam Cameron's got to be drooling over this kid. He obviously likes the TE in his offense, and obviously prefers an athletic and sure handed kid. Gates is fast, jumps high and catches everything with his hands. Randy is out of shape, lumbering and waits for the ball to hit his torso on almost every catch.

Maybe Randy was hurting our offense. Maybe he wasn't taking advantage of the middle while opening up the outside for Chambers and Booker. Olsen would be a huge threat in that area, a la Dallas Clark.

Look at how high Shockey, Winslow and Davis went. I think Olsen is as good as any of them, seriously. #9 is great value. AND, it is now a position of need.

Just my thoughts.

At #9 he would be a reach. He is a good TE and I would not mind seeing him here if we trde down in the 1st rd.

There are already a couple threads suggesting this completely ridiculous idea. Olsen is a good TE but no where near Top 10 talent IMO. If we were picking #29, sure but no way at #9. No value whatsoever.

We'd definitely have to trade down to get Olsen because #9 is way too high...I'd prefer to see Miami taken a bigger need at #9 and then look at Zack Miller or Ben Patrick in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

I like Olsen alot, but not at #9, maybe if we trade down in the 1st and get him though. I also like Ben Patrick, he reminds me of Ben Watson.

Ben Patrick runs the 40 in 4.7

Ben Watson runs the 40 in 4.3

That's a big difference. Ben Patrick won't chase down Champ Bailey from the other side of the field.

Olsen at #9? what is this forum coming to :shakeno:

I'm not sure if the idea of Olsen at #9 repulses me more or less than the thought of Tedd Ginn.

Olsen is a really good TE but not worth the #9 pick.....and I'm a huge UM homer.

I personally think its a reach @ #9 but if Cam wants him then who are we to judge him i mean he found Antonio Gates

If the first 8 picks are:

Russell
Thomas
Quinn
Johnson
Watson
Adams
Okoye
Brown

Who do you want?

Our safeties are more secure than our TE, but if you don't care, Landry or Nelson. I'd take Nelson in that battle.

No DTs left.
No QBs left.

Want Jamal Anderson to challenge Roth?

Want Adrian Peterson to challenge Ronnie?

Want Ginn or Jarrett?

Patrick Willis to challenge Zach?

Leon Hall? Houston from Arkansas?

Honestly, if that's the top 8, It's Olsen or Nelson for me, which would really depend on whether or not Allen would move to CB.

Regardless, with TE now a position of need, and Olsen slotted to go in the top 15, 9 might be a 3 spot reach, but so what?!

Landry > Nelson and Olsen is slated to go to the Bears at #31 the last I checked. he had a great workout and all but there isn't really a need for a TE

Watson? You mean Branch?

I'd definitely take Nelson, Landry, Revis, Houston, Hall, Carriker all over Olsen.

Even more to list really. With Peterson still on the board I guarantee our phone would be ringing. If we could trade down I seriously look at Meachem, Ginn, or Moss.

I just don't see the value of Olsen even top 20, where are you seeing him top 15?
