WOW! Greg Olsen from UM just ran a 4.47 and a 4.45 40 at the NFL combine about 5 minutes ago, and this was done with him being measured at 6'5 and 7/8 and 254 pounds. This kid alread had great hands, and with these times I can see a time envisioning him as another Matt Jones. He will probably be taken in the 14-18 range with these times, and with the Fins needing help at WR could they possibly trade down 5-6 spots and take him and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder? I was not real big on this kid before, but when you look at the measurables he is taller, faster, and has hands that are just as good as Jarrett from USC.

I still think that Miami has to one of two directions in the draft. They either need to trade up and get a franshise QB or LT in Russell or Thomas, move up to get Calvin Johnson, or they need to move down in the 1st and pick up a 2nd rounder this year or a late 1st round pick this year along with a 1st next year. Unless there is an impact player at # 9 we should move down and still pick up a good WR in Rice or Meachem late in the 1st and get the BPA available in the 2nd. If we can somehow pick up an extra 1st rounder next year for doing this we could then package picks in '08 to get our franchise QB (Brohm) or a LT for the next 10 years in Long from Michigan. Imagine trading our # 9 to Oakland or Detroit for their 2nd rounder this year and their 1st next year. We would essentially have a late 1st this year and the 1st for next year will surely be a top 5 pick to go along with wherever our own 1st rounder will be. That is how you build a team - not by trading away 2nd's for Feeley and C-Pep, or (2) #1's and a 3rd for Ricky.

Yeah, Olsen probably improved his stock to a definite first rounder with those times. A perfect example of a guy performing better in shorts than pads, and will probably be grossly overpaid becasue of it. I kind of hoped he would have been available for us in the second, but that obviously isn't happening now. At least it could cause a first round talent to slide to us in the second.

Thats a lot faster than I expected him to run...That is very fast for a tight end...

Wow...4.4 speed for a TE? Yeah, after that...he's a first rounder no doubt. Not really a need for us, but he'll go in the first somewhere.

Olsen admitted that blocking is the biggest area he needs to improve.

"You have to be half wide receiver, half offensive lineman," Olsen said. "It's kind of a challenge because there are very few guys who can run routes at 255 pounds like a receiver and also block like a 300-pound offensive lineman."

I would have liked this quote much better if he said' "...but, I will do it." at the end of it.....sounds to me like he's already making excuses.

My boy Olsen is going to keep The U's streak of first round picks alive!

You do know he's a tight end though, right?

I am a big fan of Zach Miller, Tight End, ASU...(my alma mater, so I am being a homer) but Olsen could move ahead of Zach. I think Miller is projected late first or eary 2nd round. We need to get rid of McMike.

I am very aware that he is a tight end - I follow college football and pro football probably too much and I work with college football as part of my job. My point should have been clearer, and the fact that he runs WR times at close to 6'6 would create nightmare matchups in the red zone. Also, trying to match up a LB in coverage when he is a tight end would also be a problem unless Urlacher or Zach is covering him.

To the point about him looking better in shorts than pads could be true, and sometimes the extra 8-10 pound of pads can make a HUGE difference in speed for a WR, DB, or TE. The fact that he has very good hands, a good frame that can add weight, and can fly will have him gone by pick 16.

yah olsen just did move ahead of miller

I JUST DONT GET THIS. first we have several dolphin fans that want randy gone but when 2 real good te 's are available the same people say we cant draft the guys like olsen. who cares if we pick miller or olsen with the #9 pick if the guy can play football take him all this points crap is just crap . since te is a week draft and the oline is strong why the hell dont we just take the best player we can instead of this points crap.
i am real angry now because we have the get rid of randy crowd but dont get a good player to replace him with because oh it is way too high to pick him . all that is bull crap. we drafted jason allen with our pick last year when there were better players available.
if he can play football then forget the stuipid points and get a damn player. plus if quinn and brown and jarrett are gone then get miller or olsen sho cares when a te should be drafted .
this draft is weak for te's and rbs and olinemen we need a te just as baddly as a olineman . if you are wanting randy gone why not just say take a te with our pick and forget this nonsense of it would be a waste crap.
i am sorry but this points stuff is getting old and we need playmakers not brownie points.

ok guys i am sorry to rant its just i am sick of getting non playmakers with our draft picks (SEE JASON ALLEN,EDDIE MOORE)
