How does that sound?

Omar Jacobs is the current QB for Bowling Green, has anyone been watching this kid? Hes putting up monster numbers this year and put up pretty impressive numbers against Oklahoma. He looks to me to be alot more promising than any of the QB's in this year's draft class. So I say we pass on all these half-a$$ prospects this year, address more pressing needs like OL, DT, RB, LB and give A.J. another season and if things dont work out and if Jacobs repeats this years numbers we should make a strong run for him. I really like this guy. Hes very accurate, makes good decisions, and is Very mobile. Any thoughts? Here is a link to his stats:

I've seen Omar play. A good QB he does play in a pass happy offense, so his stats are inflated a bit.

A solid college QB.

Except for OU, it doesn't look like a strong schedule and the #'s aren't that impressive considering the opponents. Another year may change that.

Hometown boy..... outta Delray Beach.... Atlantic High School. Same HS as Mike Rumph (CB 49ers) He could be developed into something, but its too early to tell.

You can't really judge those QB's by the schools they play against look at Big Ben in Pitts.

re

Many of the greatest players in NFL history never even played 1-A football much less in a BCS-type conference. In fact, three of the most recent NFL MVPs were all 1-AA quarterbacks......Steve McNair from Alcorn St., Rich Gannon from Delaware and Kurt Warner from Northern Iowa. It doesn't matter where the player played, if he has the talent he has the talent.

And as far as the MAC, they are an excellent 1-A football league that's put a large number of QBs and other players in the NFL over the years.

Josh Harris put up huge numbers but just simply was not a good prospect. I think fans fall in love with numbers but fail to realize that even though a player may be great in college they just simply are not good nfl prospects i.e. Darren Sproles, Jason White, Gino Toretta, Danny Wuerfuel, Charlie Ward. Bruce Gradkowski if he doesn't come out this year is a much better small school Qb prospect, although he has kinda a hitch in his throwing motion.

How soon we all forget that Big Ben was from Miami of Ohio, not florida. That is also a MAC school boys and girls. If a player can get it done, they can get it done!!! :cooldude:

isn't omar a sophomore? i watched him play the other day vs marshall, and i was very impressed. he has good arm and pretty good composure for a youngster.

Same can be said for Culpepper, who was from Central Florida, McNair (Alcorn State), Pennington or Leftwich (Marshall)

I like what I've seen from Jacobs thus far. He's got a big arm and seems to have a knack for the game.. I wouldn't mind seeing him or Bruce Gradkowski (Toledo) in Miami.

I watched him play against oklahoma, he showed outstanding composure and poise in the pocket, as well as knowing when to pull it down and get a few yards. I definetly want to give him another year before I pass complete judgement on him but he could be something special.

I've watched alot of BG games this year...well almost all of them. He is a very big guy, I see him all the time and it boggles my mind how someone so big can move so well.He definatly can move out of the pocket but the thing that most impresses me about him is his composure. There has been countless times throughout the year where I would see most quarterbacks taking the lane and running for yards. He flows with the play and finds his recievers open. He lets things come to him and dosn't rush anything. He also makes some throws where I just have to turn to the person next to me and go...wow.
I think he can be a better pro prospect than Harris but I'm not totaly sure about how he would play in a pro style system. Its not very common to see him taking snaps under the center and he is playing with an extremely talented offense in a system that suits them perfectly. But the transition has been made before and I have faith he could. Another knock I have is I would like to see him playing some more talent. So far big names have not gave him any trouble, the offense even put up 24 on Oklahoma. After another year of being a successful starting quarterback, Omar Jacobs is a name that might get pretty hot around draft time.
And if he does leave early we got a young quarterback that has been turning some heads and should be ready to take the helm.
I hope that helps some of you guys that havn't been watching the MAC schools.

Is anyone watching BGSU vs. Toledo on espn2. Omar is looking pretty sharp.
