Spread offense- Hello Alex Smith, Ben Rothlesberger, Byron Leftwich ect.

SE Missouri State was the only D1-AA team they faced, they played some pretty good teams such as NIU, Toledo, Oklahoma, Marshall.

The defense returns alot of main players, they lost a good lb and their best DB, but return both corners and both their very good starting Dends. Not that it will be something to brag about.

He lost Mrukowski, thats it. The best lineman on the team was a freshman and there are some very promising younger guys that will do a great job of stepping up. I see no decrease here.

Cole Magner was his 3rd WR at best. Charles Sharon and Steve Sanders are both excellent wide recievers and should be turing some heads next year. Plus, with the offense they run they have a bundle of talented youngsters waiting to step up. I see an improvement with the WR's if anything. Plus he has a very good running back returing with him who catches a bunch of passes, his weapons are in place.

If he has a good year, he WILL leave school. Trust me on this one. Not only has he said that, his top 2 recievers and RB will be graduating. This is his year.

5-7? This guy is lightyears ahead of Harris, who was drafted in the 5th round. A solid season should make him an easy first day pick, maybe even first rounder.
 
If the 2006 draft were today he'd be a late 1st to early 2nd round pick...but that could change with a monster season and a very strong combine he could come in to next year and be a top 10 pick

He had a MONSTER season. He just needs to be solid and the team needs to perform well to solidify his status.

And Bomber, he is a real nice guy. Real quiet, not a rah rah type.
 
Look out for....

Texas A&M's Reggie McNiel. He will be the best QB out of the Big 12 and has a NFL arm to go with his college legs. He will translate into a NcNab type QB.

I will bet you $1000 that he does not get drafted in the 1st or 2nd round this year(or next year if he stays for his last year).

Alex smith played a tougher schedule also.

But Smith never played anyone as tough as Oklahoma, who Jacobs did very well against. The two underclassmen to keep an eye on are Jacobs & Pitt's Tyler Palko. Vince Young could get back in that group if he improves his accuracy & decision making.

unfortunately, Tyler Palko will probably get 4+ years worth of Jay Fiedler game tapes with explicit instructions "If you want to be the starting QB here, learn to play like this guy"

I would take that bet in a second, and I don't know anyone who wouldn't.

Did Utah really have that much harder of a schedule?
A quck glance over their schedule and I see 4 bowl teams. Same number as BG, but BG opened the season with the Sooners, the best team either of them faced, where Omar threw 2 TD's and no INT's in his first ever start against arguably the toughest defense in college football.

Next year there will be some quality games as well; Wisconsin, Boise St., Toledo, NIU, Miami(OH).

I'm not trying to say he is better than Smith, but the comparison of their careers is not that far off right now.

It's all opinion now, but the way you talk you make it seem like its a crazy idea to consider him an elite player. You might want to refine your argument against him and come back at me.
