Put this in the blog question thread, but thought all you guys might want to read it on it's own..
Confessions of a Dolphins beat writer
To all the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, agents and old coaches, grand parents and Godparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, fiancees and wives of all the players (I know you come because you need to know how your guy is really doing out there because he's usually vague) please remember this: I have NOTHING personal against your baby, or boo. Absolutely nothing!
If he struggled in Monday's morning session, I'll say he struggled, and try tell you why. If he improves in the afternoon, I'll point that out too. If he's not a good practice performer (Phillip Merling last season) I'll admit it. If he becomes the quarterback's whipping boy (like cornerback Scorpio Babers was last year) I'm not going to immediately write it, but if it becomes a trend I'll point it out, and regularly give you examples. If I suspect he's a stud (Kendall Langford and Donald Thomaslast year), and is rising fast up the depth chart, I'll point that out too. If I don't see him, or doing write about him, I'm probably not feeling him (noticing him on the field...for good or bad). I usually notice good things, and bad things....very few things in-between....then write about them.
