In my opinion, regardless of our record, if this line doesn't end up being a top third in the league o-line, that should spell both coach and gm's walking papers. You have a head coach who's only resume is that he was an o-line specialist. They've spent lavishly, both in dollars and draft picks. They have a unit that consists of 3 first round draft picks. 3 first round draft picks! That's not counting the busts/whiffs on draft picks (John Jerry, etc) and free agents (Groves, etc) That's a big commitment to a very understandable strategy: have a mac-daddy line, and the rest of the offense becomes much easier. The thing is, you can't then have your o-line be your biggest concern going into the season. If anything, that should be by far the strongest unit on the team.
To use the Parcell's analogy, they were allowed to buy the groceries. They've spent as if they were buying filet mignon and lobster. So far we look like hamburger helper and sardines.
