Casey Hampton,Pittsburghs longtime NT.

Here's a free agent NT prospects for the Dolphins. Steelers NT Casey Hampton becomes an unresticted free agent and likely won't be tagged.

Although hes probably been the best 3-4 NT the past 4,5 years, the Steelers are known for not over-paying to keep free agents.

This is very possible, and the Phins have been known to show the money to players whos former team decided not to(i.e Joey Porter,Justin Smiley,Randy Starks,Jake Grove to name a few.)

I gotta say,if we somehow land him in FA,this could really go a long way toward shaping up our defense, and overal roster.

This could help us focus more on WR and LBs early, and secondary needs, like a developing safety prospect,a better tight end,and possibly another RB if the FO doesnt want to keep Ronnie any longer than they have to.

very very possible. I think parcells will be more anxious for a vet NT than to draft one. He is 32 though.....ferguson , 35

hes good but ANOTHER old NT BUUUUUUUT I would sign him and draft a NT in round 4-7 to groom because Hampton can play another 4 years easily.

age is a concern at 32...but that could buy us time to draft someone this year or next and groom them....OK im sold!

That would be great. Age isn't a concern for me. Draft a later player and IMO the best NT in the leauge can teach him.

Dansby, Hampton and Bryant!

Make it happen.

It all makes sense. I would love to see Hampton in a Dolphins jersey. The guys a beast and he has put up some impresive numbers this year. Hes got 28 tckls and 2 sacks.

The Steelers are great about cutting a guy loose when he is just about to go on the down slope of his career... and the dolphins are good about signing those same players...

I mentioned this in another thread. He would be a great pickup. My wife is a huge Steeler fan so I have watched many Steeler games over the last several years. The guy is a stud. He would fit out scheme perfect and buy some time to groom a younger guy. With age come more injuries but I still say he has a good 3-4 years left in him.

Jesus are we already building next year's roster with 5 games left still????

The problem with finding a NT in the late round is they are not going to atheletic at their size. So a 4-7 rf NT is going to start off being less atheletic and slow. Now how many year you groom you are not going to make him fast or atheletic.

if the goal is a fat guy remember you are limited in what you can do with a big tackle.
the good NT are the ones who are very atheletic .the technique takes a few years to learn .

vince wilfork at 27 will be worth the money for any team.

If New England lets him walk

Vince Wilfork just turned 28 last month
has 6 years of experience
pro bowl

the patriots are 60-17 with Wilfork starting
missed only 3 games in 5 years
Went to college in Miami
Born in Boynton Beach
He also holds the Florida state high school record in the shot put with a throw of 68 feet.

Back up the Brink's truck and give him whatever he wants
He would demand double coverage and allow a better pass
rush which would in turn help our secondary

We do not need a confessed Miami Dolphins hater, a cheater, and all-around dirty player like vince wilfork on our team!

If we are really going to invest in a GOOD nt we have to draft like the first or second best in the draft anything else is a waste...its very hard to find special nose tackles
