Omar Kelly talks Dolphins on WQAM

Im listening to the Big O on WQAM and he has Omar Kelly on the show. Well Omar Kelly said that Soliai is a guy who Miami could try to trade and if he makes it to Training Camp he will be cut before the Season starts.

Kelly said Miami could take a DT early and would atleast draft two cornerbacks in this draft.

Kelly said their is a very High Chance Miami trades down from the 25th spot. They want more picks and feel their is alot of talent in the second round.

Big O added his two cents saying that Soliai was a forth rounder who had not done anything and has done more off the field than on the field. The fact he was suspended twice last year does not bode well with the organization and before the season started the only lone survivor from the '07 draft could be Ginn. They both think if we were to get a 7th for Soliai we would be rubbing a team cause he has been non exsistent.

They really hammered Mueller and Cam and said the 07 draft was by far one of the worst draft in Miami history.

Guess Im not the only one who think Soliai sucks.

Question. Doesnt the fact that he was suspended twice, but not cut, actually bode well for Soliai? Why not just get rid of the guy midseason if he is such a disappointment?

What could Soliai be traded for? Maybe a 6th rounder....or 7th?
Might as well keep him through training camp to see what happens. We're not exactly "deep" at the NT position....

Dolfan1000 I think he was not cut during the season cause there really was not anything better out there and Dotson was a bit undersize to fit the role of DT. Im just the messenger, but it seems Im not the only way thinking Soliai could be gone.

They would be surprise if it was a 7th

i guess cam asked him a favor after he got booed badly on draft day with the selection of ginn... nothing better than ask your veteran markee player to speak up and compliment the draftees

If we draft his replacement, then sure I can see him being dealt. But I dont think there is any way we give away our backup NT... The position is just too valuable.

Zach was a great football player, but evluator of talent he is not.

They reached for a bunch of a guys and settled for some. It was a horrible draft nontheless

soliai would give us some vlaue, because he'd be the largest NT available via FA or Draft. Some new teams would love to have him compete for the starting or backup NT role in their new 3-4 defense..

Personally i think Soliai will show signs of improvement in camp and wind up a decent rotational player.
If the organization doesn't plan on playing him, then he should be traded. I honestly think he's worth a late 5th -early 7th.. He's 6'4 350+!!! 2 years exp. one in 4-3, another as 3-4, he also showed improvement at end of year.

i know he's a bit of a putz with the suspensions, but none of you even know what he got suspended for...
I would imagine it is weight requirements since in training camp they said they'd cut you if you didn't maintain the weight they assigned to you.
He probably went to an all you can eat the night before and eat 10lbs of food, putting him around 365. Thats a year's worth of fat

Even though he has only 6 tackles. A NT doesn't get that many oppurtunities, since he is normally double teamed. With centers like Satele all around the league i got no problem putting one of the heaviest guys in the NFL against him..

I think he'll be around next season, and you'll see him playing alot more since fergy will be 35..

Soliai actually started making big plays at the end last year. I think they keep him one more year and see what another offseason does and if he stays clean, he can be a force for us in the middle. I dont see a trade at all. We can get another 7th by pissing in the wind.
