Omar Kelly threatens Twitter Users over Dave Hyde tweet

Why are you trying to get this guy booted? Do you even know him? Pretty ridiculous for you to try to get this guy canned. Just because his opinions are different from yours doesn't mean that he deserves to lose his job.

The job of many beat writers and commentators today is to facilitate conversation and buzz over a topic. Part of Omar's job, which wasn't a part of this industry 10 years ago, is to reach out to fans over social networking mediums because print media is dying. Part of his job is to interact with fans, which especially over websites like twitter, happen to be a lot less formal in nature. If all of these people are going to talk to him in a less formal manner like they know him, then it gives him the same right to defend himself or one of his colleagues. Some people have no filter or completely cross the line when they try to talk to these guys, and it is their right to protect their integrity or reputation.

However, how he does defend himself can be brought into question if it is handled in a poor ethical manner. You definitely like to see these guys take a step back and think before they post something about slapping somebody, even if it is a joke or just a figure of speech. I'm just trying to let you all form your own opinions on the manner while giving you a little more insight into how people have to evolve with their industry.

Personally, I find Omar to be hit or miss on the majority of his topics, but at least he takes a stance. I have no right to comment about him as a person because I don't know him.

Do I need to know him to want him booted? He isn't good at his job, period, and to top it off, he is rude and threatens his audience.

If you walked into a restaurant and the guy got your order wrong 3 times, spilled wine on your wife, and then smacked your child for crying, wouldn't you go to the manager to try to get the waiter fired from a job he was obviously not suited for?

I don't use twitter so I don't "follow" him. But a lot of people use another Dolphin site in addition to this one that runs a ticker in the sidebar with many of the local Miami writers' tweets as they come through. You can't block a guy just because you think he sucks--it's not your twitter account and you can't control it, so it's all or nothing. Good source of quick updates about the team most of the time.

I don't want him or anyone else fired, but he can be pretty pissy when he gets a run in his fishnets... like today. And probably tomorrow, too.
 
MOST Dolphins fans are idiots. Most South Florida fans are idiots. I can only imagine the $#!t they have to put up with, so i more than understand them getting defensive when idiots attack.
 
Who cares. Not sure why anyone would care if he makes threats to anyone or not. He has an opinion like the rest of us. Somehow he gets paid to write his, shrug.

Society today, is so freaking sensitive to everything, it's sad. I'm more embarrassed for the ppl who actually give a **** what he says about them or the Phins.

Face it ppl, you guys give him the platform to speak on the things he speaks on. If you don't like it, don't click on any of the articles he writes. Trust me, they will get he message.

There isn't a bigger melting pot in this country than Miami, maybe LA. 60% of Miami so called fans, are nothing more than front runners. If I didn't think Omar was an even bigger fraud, I'd feel sorry for him.

P.S. Omar, buddy, you're a ****ty writer. No, really, you're a ****ing horrible writer. Probably the worst writer for any newspaper, blog, twitter, or pamphlet that I've ever had the unfortunate experience of reading. I'm not exaggerating that. The worst. That being said, keep doing what you're doing! It's unintentionally entertaining!

naaa, he sure wants everyone to think he is though and i have taken him to task many, many times over it.

he spends more time trying to, what do they call it, "keeping it real" than trying to be a real journalist and social role model.

there is a whole lot of this guy sux, that guy sux between the fans and writers. i dont subscribe to it because they are ALL guessing. some try to make an educated guess or opinion and you can tell it when they write. sometimes they still end up "wrong".

but thats ok.

but omar? he is very lacking in the knowledge of the all around nfl game. he should spend more time learning about the game and other positions than o-line instead of constant juggling between a wanna be christian preacher and hardcore, down brutha gangster.

he is a very conflicted guy. its hard to take a guy seriously who spouts scripture while he poses for his picture in a big PIMP hat. jesus would sure be down wid dat huh?

time for a change there for sure.
