Never mind I just re read it and now I get what he's saying. We just wouldn't have competition for him unless someone else wants to pay him off.

If you grab him off waivers, you must pay him the remainder of his 2009 salary, which is $2.4 million. This is why he will probably clear waivers - because nobody wants to pay him that much, in all likelihood.

If he clears waivers, then he is a free agent, and anyone can negotiate a contract with him. There is of course a huge risk of trying to let him clear waivers to get him at a bargain basement price (with possibly a hometown discount).

Omar is saying it might be worth just picking up his $2.4 million salary - we can probably get him via waivers if we want to because other interested teams are going to have lower priority due to better records (e.g. Baltimore).

EDIT: bah! all that typing for nothing

There's no upside to the signing......it's baseless....

It makes no sense to throw money at a WR that's no better than what you have....only older....

It makes no sense to take his contract just to HOPE he can come in and be less mediocre than the cheaper one's you already have that need the reps....

If they want to throw a WR in there that can't get seperation....then throw the one in there that you "brilliantly" used a 3rd round pick on and HOPE he gets better.....not the old $2 million one that just got cut for THAT reason...

It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of......if he wasn't a former Dolphin this wouldn't even be an issue....

If they were going to do business in this manner...then they should have brought in Brock Marion and HOPE he could cover and tackle better than the two scrubs they had at safety....

It makes about as much sense....

BTW....all this did was ensure that Vincent Jackson goes nowhere after this season....

LOL thanks dude you actually did clear up something for me. I didn't know once he clears he doesn't get paid the remainder.

I don't agree with bringing him back but Omar makes an interesting point about grabing him before he clears waivers. I guess we wouldn't have to pay off his contract then? I don't really understand or maybe I'm reading it wrong, if someone else knows what he's talkling about please let me know.

Well the highlight reel brings back a lot of good memories and honestly we don't have anyone doing that right now!

This really is a no brainer. They can't risk him not clearing waivers. It won't hurt against the cap and most importantly we give up no draft picks for him. He instantly becomes the best option (except maybe Hartline) and Ginn can focus on KR and being used as #3 or 4 as the deep threat.

Pull the trigger Jeff!

couldn't agree more

he is better right now, than any receiver on our roster.

Could not agree with you more it really isnt going to hurt us to sign him worst case he leaves at the end of the season best case he is a good WR that we can count on to make catchs

Actually there might be some kind of "termination settlement" with the Chargers if he doesn't get claimed or signed, and they might end up being on the hook for the rest of his $2.4M anyways. Not sure on the details there...

He complained about his playing time which is why they let him go. Yes his productoiin has dropped off but he would still be at least the 2nd best choice in this WR corps. Plus you get him in here in time to play at NE and maybe he has a huge game to prove he can still play.

His playing time decreased because he SUCKS.....and they have better options...

You people have loyalty to no end don't you....

He gets no seperation and drops passes.....SOUND FAMILIAR?

Hell....a one legged rodeo clown would be the 2nd best choice in this WR corps.....

The point is they have guys already on the roster that are CHEAPER and need to be developed that bring the EXACT same thing to the table...
