Omar now loves Lazor offense- Tannehill

You're right man. Really none of us can judge player talent, yet we all talk as if we're experts. And on your 2nd point, yes a lot of posters are like that, but they're just trying to show how 'smart' they are. All in all, we all want the fins to win. We're all on the fins bandwagon together regardless of our opinions of coaches, GMS, players, etc etc. No reason to stoop to the level of the debbie downers. when the train rights itself...we'll all be happy (I hope), but until then, we're all going to have our opinions on why we're not a playoff team.

bull **** none of us can

i'm starting to wonder if we mirror the chip kelly system how much the qb matters...i mean every qb in philly moves the ball right down the field in it and i know those qbs aren't special by means...even buttfumble who i know has major flaws looked competent in his run the other day albeit missing a few throws he should have made but still...

i guess i will wait and see how much we mirror the philly system but there's no doubt the system is playing a major role there...and there's no way they should pay any of those qbs franchise money despite the #s sure to be put up...

foles is horrible against pressure...

Great job Hoops, you just game all the Tanny bashers the argument they need. "It's not the QB it's the system"

it is in philly...i guess we will see how much traditional pocket stuff we still use...cause that separates qbs...the ability to read the field go thru progressions and play in the pocket...

trust me i don't want to give anyone ammo about my qb but there's a lot of guys that could play a competent qb in that philly system...they'd put up points

you can hide warts in that kind of system...an awful lot of good looks and easy pitch and catch

That is direction the NFL is headed....put it on the minds of the OC as opposed to the arms of the QB...

To be fair though, Foles is clearly better than Vick or Barkley, based on what I saw of all 3 running the same offense.

Skill of the QB definitely matters in that offense. They just make it much easier for em.

his luv for gerrard was bordering on un natural. it was flat out embarrassing watching the lavish praises he laid out DAILY for him, almost like he had won 7 superbowls and averaged 50 td's a year. and then......., the famous........ "david gerrard is FUNKY FRESH!!!"

what the fug is "FUNKY FRESH?" sounds like a feminine hygiene product.

strange dude all the way around.

I don't agree. Whether we like it or not it's very possible that with Matt Moore, a traditionally crappy practice player" and rookie Ryan Tannehill that Garrard did look like the best QB in our practices in 2012. He had lots of experience in the system as well. Maybe Omar's praise of him was over the top but I don't doubt he looked like the best QB in camp. I'm sure that would be a different story in 2014 (maybe even 2013).

exactly, the system is huge. I know you cant compare college to the pros because the talent level is so much different. but in college you see it so much, its one of the arguments I have with ECU's QB shane carden who is a beast. he's a system qb who put up ridic numbers last year. some of tops in the ncaa, but sadly he prob wont get drafted highly because the air raid offense QB's don't get looked at highly for the pro's. if air raid ever became popular in the pros you would see the style of qb you wanted changed. you gotta have talent but you also gotta fit into the system. I think tanne has the physical attributes he could prob fit into any system with the right coaching. so I think our situation is more a how good is the OC compared to the QB running the offense

Its an interesting question. Did Kelly's system make Foles or did Foles make Kelly's system? I think its a combination. The system manufactures good passer rating stats, plus they are probably on the good side of variance (or luck, whichever term you prefer) and Foles is probably pretty good.

The good news is if Tannehill has a 95+ rating whether the stat is "manufactured" by the system or if Tannehill actually takes a step up I think it'll translate into the expected number of wins for a 95+ rating QB either way, which would be at least 10 wins on average.

I could be wrong about that though because they killed the Saints in passer rating differential in the playoff game which should have translated into a win the vast majority of the time, but they lost. And it didn't even look like the miracle type comeback you would expect with that type of disparity in the stats.

Agreed. The idea of the "system QB" still requires good execution from the QB.

Absolutely. And that's why even though I think Nick Foles is FAR from the quarterback his numbers say that he is (and they say that he is the best quarterback in the NFL), he deserves a lot of credit for executing his team's offense effectively and efficiently.

I think the best example you saw last year was Houston. Houston ran the same offense they always did, but Matt Schaub, for whatever reason (age, injury, etc.) just couldn't execute it anymore.

i'm sure he is better but was he better when he was throwing 2 picks off his back foot against pressure the other night? there's obvious differences in skill sets etc as far as the things you can do with the qb but that system is a big deal there...if foles saw as much pressure as tannehill saw last year he'd be throwing up steaks all over the place
