Omar now loves Lazor offense- Tannehill

That is direction the NFL is headed....put it on the minds of the OC as opposed to the arms of the QB...

yep...that's how i see it going also...

it's different from a saints like offense where the qb is the straw that stirs the drink with his smarts and the way he sees the field etc...much different...i see a lot of predetermined throws not presnap reads in that philly system

Joe Montana was the best system QB ever. I have no problem with "system QB's".

Agreed. Omar is a negative nancy who seems to hate praising QBs. So for him to give RT this much credit speaks volumes to me. I can't wait for the season to begin!

I dont blame him for this. How many QB's have we had since Marino? Which "franchise" QB has given us something to be positive about. I know we all want to believe our guy is gonna be the guy and be positive but that's not always the case. We've been ranked 20th or worse in offense for the 6 years sense 2006. I dont blame him for being a negative nancy about our QBs and having expectations, because our offense has been terrible nearly every year.. With an Elite Qb in a QB driven league, I'm sure we would have a few top 10 offenses in there. Just look at the QBs we have had. Nothing special or to be super blown away by. Hopefully Tannehill has a breakout year because I think he has the potential to be great if he can put it all together with a better offensive line and scheme

omar kelly ‏@omarkelly 1m

i love that now that i speak positively about the dolphins offense & tannehill i'm on the take....no winning with you people. I'm out!

Like... Forever?? Please let this be true!! If only...

i'm starting to wonder if we mirror the chip kelly system how much the qb matters...i mean every qb in philly moves the ball right down the field in it and i know those qbs aren't special by means...even sanchez who i know has major flaws looked competent in his run the other day albeit missing a few throws he should have made but still...

i guess i will wait and see how much we mirror the philly system but there's no doubt the system is playing a major role there...and there's no way they should pay any of those qbs franchise money despite the #s sure to be put up...

foles is horrible against pressure...
Good questions.

As you well know we don't have the OL to really run that system like the Eagles do, so our results are not going to reach those levels. And with a full offseason to direct it, even Philly will see a decline in production this year.

But the basic principles of Chip Kelly's system are fundamentally sound. They work regardless.

Much like other major US sports, success often comes from exploiting favorable matchups. It's why veteran QB's pick on injured or rookie CB's, it's why we throw to the single covered guy, and it's why draw plays tend to gain so many yards.

Being able to push quickly to the line allows an offense to keep a 2 down thumper LB on the field and exploit his weakness in coverage. spreading the field exposes slow defenders and helps RB's at the 2nd level gash defenses for chunk yardage. These basics are sound. It's not a gimic like the Wildcat or pure read option that go's you an extra blocker. He uses that too, but that not what was super successful for him in Philly.

Giving the defense little time to communicate and adjust helps create mental lapses and blown assignments on defense. This is going to help us.

Also, Lazor's offense isn't Chip Kelly's. It incorporates a lot of Chip's stuff, but with more passes to big two-way TE's and passes to RB's. Lazor's system is solid for the NFL ... although we don't have the OL, TE's and RB's to really take best advantage of it yet.

Omar is such an a-hole... As proven by his last two tweets... Do you want a cookie Omar? This is the first positive thing about the Dolphins I have ever seen him write!

i'm sure he is better but was he better when he was throwing 2 picks off his back foot against pressure the other night? there's obvious differences in skill sets etc as far as the things you can do with the qb but that system is a big deal there...if foles saw as much pressure as tannehill saw last year he'd be throwing up steaks all over the place

And would he have thrown those picks if Lazor was on his sideline?

I agree with you, I havent followed Omar for long. Started while Henne was still the QB. But when RT came in he didnt seem to want to give any credit where credit was due...I dont mind him having expectations of course, but he also wouldnt even attempt to say RT was coming along. Last preseason, he was harping on management to bring in competition for RT. Which I actually agree with, but the way Omar presents himself is usually as a QB hater. I think he does it because he loves to piss fans off.

It all sounds great but honestly, if Omar told me the sky was blue, I would still look up

I agree. I think he evaluates and holds RT to a much higher standard than anybody else on the team, but it is the most important position on the team. He also seems to be loosening up on Philbin because he didn't like him at all last year, but this year hes probably given him more praise than he did at all last year. I just hope all of us fans that believe in Tannehill from the beginning were right and he turns into our franchise QB. I'm really excited going into this year about this offense. I think it could be great under Tannehill.

Nice! I can't believe it! I really didn't think Omar would come around with tannehill, but he proved that he isn't just a hater, but maybe he is actually watching and telling us how he feels. Great to hear that tannehill is looking so good in camp. I can't wait for this season to begin!

At the first sign of trouble Omar will claim he never said this and he was hacked.
