Omar now loves Lazor offense- Tannehill

At the first sign of trouble Omar will claim he never said this and he was hacked.

nah, he covered his basis when he said he loves the scheme. but don't confuse scheme with playcalling and execution. So if things go to ****, he'll blame the playcalling or execution, but still praise the scheme...

I actually agree with him on that. I really like the offensive concepts we appear to be embracing here, but if the players don't execute it well, or Bill Lazor decides that he needs to keep dialing up stretch plays on third and inches, we aren't going to have a good year.

I agree. I think he evaluates and holds RT to a much higher standard than anybody else on the team, but it is the most important position on the team. He also seems to be loosening up on Philbin because he didn't like him at all last year, but this year hes probably given him more praise than he did at all last year. I just hope all of us fans that believe in Tannehill from the beginning were right and he turns into our franchise QB. I'm really excited going into this year about this offense. I think it could be great under Tannehill.

Yup. He does hold QBs to a higher standard, it seems he wont praise him until he shows he's a top 10QB. But I forgot how much he questioned Philbin last year, but that was probably accurate as well with some of those in game decisions. I think RT is going to be our franchise for a while! I hope n pray he does take the next step this year! I think bringing in Lazor is exactly what RT needed to progress further. And to me, the fact that Omar is praising RT and the offense so much has me that much more excited. Omar can be a dick to fans and he's so arrogant and obnoxious, but from the 3 years or so that I've been following him, when he complains about the Offense in the offseason, they have been mediocre in the reg season. I trust his judgement more than most, but sometimes you have to read between the lines with him, when he's just trying to get under people's skin.

Yes. Playcalling is a skill no less important than any other aspect of being an offensive coordinator.

i see another OK thread.....

It's nice to see him praise Tannehill. Again, I'm not against criticizing Tanny, but there were a lot of times last year in camp another writer would tweet "Nice throw by Tannehill to (insert name here)" and Omar would go "Nice throw, but doesn't count because it would have been a sack if it was live action" or "Nice throw BUT the corner made a mistake". It's fine to try to be the voice of reason, BUT if it's a nice throw give credit where credit is due.

And yes, I love the scheme. I said last week, the TD to Gibson was nothing overly creative, but still a brilliant call. It was calling a normal redzone play in an unusual formation. It's things like that I felt we were lacking. Sherman was way to obvious in what he was doing (though to give him credit, when he actually tried different things, they usually worked), and in contrast guys like Henning, Mularkey, and even Daboll were just too creative for their own good.

Some of those stretch plays I never got (see safety against Bucs). Zone runs are fine up the middle in the blocking system we wanted to run, but stretch plays with a sluggish OL is just dumb.

2 years ago he had no reservations about creaming over the very pedestrian David Garrard.

Agreed. Omar is a negative nancy who seems to hate praising QBs. So for him to give RT this much credit speaks volumes to me. I can't wait for the season to begin!

Granted we haven't had a qb worth praising since Marino.. I feel as if Omar calls it how it is... he predicted we would be a .500 team last year and we ended up being 8-8. I feel the homers here don't like Omar because at times he doesn't see anything special in a team that usually shows nothing special. I am ecstatic about his observations today though!

meh ... who would be a good number 1 qb to have?

Brady, Manning, Brees, Luck, Rodgers... you know .. those guys...

You've been bashing Tannehill for quite some time now and just like that when Omar gives him some love you are "ecstatic". Get out of here with that BS and at least have some backbone/conviction to stick with your opinion. No opinion should be based on what Omar believes.

Whats next, is WV going to pull a full recant as well?
