Omar: South Florida has some of the worst sports fans in the nation

still whining? dude i have been to practice and games in miami gardens. i know how hot is. do you ever check the heat up here? its not that much of a difference maybe 5 degrees. . . go to a yankee game here all day its just as bad. . . play golf here. i've playd golf both places trust me heat is heat fine. but i'd like to see you sit in a 38 degree game in a cold rain up here. plenty of ppl do it. and if miami/jets or miami/giants is that day this year i will be there. bottom line is ppl make it out to the games in other cities without always finding an excuse.

Hmm, who was whining? Looks to me I just gave you facts. Not that much of a difference in heat? Hah, you're unaware of what humidity is I suppose. There is a reason people sweat down here at 11pm at night when you walk outside for 2 minutes.

Facts - Team hasn't done **** in decades, roof would promote more comfortable seating, people do give off heat which in turn makes it hotter, our "heat advantage" isn't much of one, people will show if you win.

I just simply asked you how misereable it is to just sit in the heat down here. I'm personally over it, along with the losing..glad you aren't. I had season tickets for long enough, spent enough stupid money on this team. Show me something..and then I'll show you my wallet.

What it is is what it is. Local fans are fickled . Nubs posted pictures of an Marlins game with a couple hundred fans at most and they've won 2 World series in the last 15 years. Canes never sell out and the Heat had to get LBJ just to fill the seats.
Leave it at that. It's not going to change no matter what you guys say.

P>S> We do appretiate your support for OUR team.

what facts? its hot so what? WE HAVE HUMIDITY IN NEW JERSEY . . Humidtiy exists up and down the ENTIRE east coast! are you unaware of that? is Florida the only state that is humid? i just got done telling you that i just played golf down there and i have been going down there in the heat since i was 4 years old. and i live up here. do you not think i am in a better position to compare the difference? anyway. if heat is the issue why is the monday NIGHT game not sold out lol?

but whatever if you dont want to go b/c the team sucks thats your prerogative. i am not anyone to call u a bad person b/c u choose not to attend a game but i can call it for what i see and say that south fl. is full of fair weather fans - and with the heat argument that becomes a literal statement.

Omar is right the phins fan base has always been finicky and always will IMO. Why
First its very hot in SE Fla and options abound for sports year around in Miami as well fun at the beaches and water. So why bother to follow a loosing team when you would rather be and could be fishing, sunbathing on the beach and you could be watching a winner team somewhere else around south Fla if you wanted. Remember south Fl is only about 80 - 90 miles wide around the Miami area and with very little traffic you can be rooting for another team real quick.
Second Miamis ethnic population has changed over the years from caucasian based in the 60's and 70's to a more diverse Spanish and African American who have different priorities than American football.
Third we have more pro football team choices in our states compared to other states. Areas like Tampa and Jacksonville now have their own home teams and Miami use to draw on many of those fans in the past.

IMO also Ross needs to be more concerned about the team winning to fill his stadium than about feeling cool. He need those early 1 pm games. Thats about the only thing that will get the fans to the stadium. IMO
Fans up north can come to a nice cool or cold game get a few drinks to warm themselves up, yell or shout get out doors after being shut in for the winter just a great expereince. Miami its to hot for hard liquor and they limit you to a couple of beers plus drinking in that hot sun kicks your butt the next day whole differnent experience.

Ross it works just like the Field of Dreams The Dolphins Win and the fans will come!

now this post makes some sense man i can agree with this. mostly the arguments about the changing demographic etc. that makes a TON of sense. also the jacksonville and tampa teams taking fans away. these are things that def contribute. as i said we have so many phins fans up here taht we have our own dolphins bar. the fanbase is strong but it is scattered. props to anyone who always gets to games no matter what city you are in!

I'm starting to believe Nublar is a closet Jets fan.
So I must be a closet Jets fan because I am upset that the stadium is never full, has tons of opposing fans and the team has to prepare for a home game like it is an away game. Yeah, I am the one with the problem. Absolutely ridiculous the mind set of some people.

In the heat or in the cold it doesn't matter, if I love something I will do it. I play golf in the middle of July in Florida and Taiwan (and if you think Florida is hot in July bother, swim to Cuba to get a feel for Taiwan), I go outside in sub-zero temps to ride in the winter. Sat in 90+ degree heat watching a NASCAR race in Charlotte to a sold out track. Hell I have been to out door pig roast in the Adirondack Mountains swilling beer in February with 3 foot of snow.

Sitting in Sunlife Stadium is no different, I can think of a hell of a lot worse places to be, work for one probably tops the list. I wish I lived closer to Miami so I could go to more games but life didn't deal that Geography card to me but it did deal the Miami Dolphins Fan card so regardless I will support the team come thick or thin.

To be honest living in NY helps past the time because I can constantly **** with Jets, Bills and Pats fans but it would be nice to have the opportunity to drive an hour or two and see my team play.

There are lots of Dolphins fans around the country...team should buy a plane and fly us down to games! I'd buy tickets to games if someone else bought me a plane ticket.

They have that Dolphins Express bus....why not Dolphins Air? I bet Ross has his own airplane anyway...

I don't like the arguement of some people that they dont' want to go to games because our team hasn't been very good. Thats usually called front-running. I don't want to pile on too much on the fin fans in Florida but great fans go to games even when their team is going through a tough time.

I know, it is a piss pour excuse but you know if Miami wins some playoff games and becomes a contender the bandwagon jumpers will be aplenty.

The other thing I hate are the fans on this site bickering over who a true fan is. It is clearly obvious that all the Dolphins fans on this site are "true" fans or you wouldn't be passionate enough to post here. If you took the time to seek out this site, it is because you wanted to know/hear/read more about the Dolphins and debate the topics.

No one is saying the die hard Miami fans are not good fans, but there are not enough die hard fans in Miami. I think some people take it personally when the fan base is criticized. If you are a hard core fan you have nothing to be upset about. It's not like the good fans can force people to go to games. Just relax and realize that you don't have to defend your individual fandom when the fan base of Miami is criticized.

I totally agree with the above post, no one is getting called out. We're just saying we wish there were more die hard fans around the area to fill up the stadium

Miami has a stronger fan base throughout the nation then they do locally. They are still a recognized team nationally IMO.

Well said, thank you
