So far I like what I see. We were running our offense from the shotgun or spread option 90% of the time.

We are today using and running from and throwing play action passes from "running" formations. We have added a single formation that uses a "Move TE" as a "fullback". We are using our TE Domingue Jones who is 6'3" and 270 pounds as our H-Back.

And he caught that 12-yard pass on the play action pass. I really like this offense we are running. But we are still not doing it enough, we are still running too much from the shotgun/spread.

It is a shame we are stuck with this Tannehill guy :hi5:. I mean sure, he is moving really well and making great throws against one of the best defenses in the NFL but if we go 5 wide too often, he will not make it.

:tank:

Our offensive line is actually playing well. What a difference it makes.

Here are a couple of shockers.....And it is what I said we could do if we tried to.

If you take away the runs by the Steeler's WRs (one really), we, the Miami Dolphins, lead the Pittsburg Steelers in rushing in the 1st half. 56 yards to 54 yards.

AND, we also lead in Time of Possession in the 1st half. 16:47 to 13:13.

This is "winning football"

OK, update:

The Dolphins are leading in rushing (including WRs) over Pittsburg 161 yards to 129 yards.

They are leading in Time of Possession: 36:14 to 21:51. That means their defense has been on the field a long time and ours has not.

We are running the ball because we decided to.

And THAT. Is how you finish a game.

This "running the ball from running formations and playing good defense" works.

We ran the ball 36 times. For 222 yards. We held the ball 36 minutes and 30 seconds on offense.

They ran for 124 yards but only had the ball for 23 Minutes and 30 seconds.

We had the ball for 13 minutes more! Which is why our defense looked better, because they were fresher.

Shocking how simple it is....well the formula, the tough part is the execution.

Agree. It only takes a few bad apples to spoil the whole batch.

A little OT, but how would last season have turned out it Turner, D. Thomas and J Taylor had been replaced by two average NFL players. And Philbin replaced with an average HC. You're right. It just takes 2-4 BAD players to hurt an entire team. It is no coincidence Philbin, Taylor, Turner, Thomas gone (although Thomas/Turner lasted to long).
