On Cam Wake : Make up your mind, sign him or trade him

Why right now? If JI can use him for leverage in a trade, why sign him now? It makes much better sense to have all options on the table going into this draft than taking a big option OFF the table. After the draft, sure then take care of it. It's a business.

It'll happen in due time I'm sure. I'm looking forward to Wake playing as a DE (like he did in Canada) coming from a 3 pt stance. I'm sure Philbin wants to do whatever possible to keep him too...as you know he must remember the way Wake abused Bulaga two years ago.

Wake has a year left on his contract, so even if the Fins don't do anything now, they could always franchise tag him next year if need be. The Fins have enough money right now to sign their draft picks and the undrafted free agents, they don't have the money now to sign Wake to a long term deal.

And whose fault is that????? Maybe if Ireland actually KNEW what he had in Wake he could have planned for this? Maybe they could send a message to the rest of the team by offering to re-do his deal BEFORE he has to HOLD OUT???? Maybe they can make a player who has been nothing but a good soldier... PERFORMED and worked his a** off since day 1 feel like he was actually VALUED in this organization????

I think it is a DISGRACE that this cannot be done in house and that Wake feels he needs to FORCE them to the table... Ireland and company had a chance to actually REWARD a player for his hard work to set an example... His deal is a joke... An indignity... It is actually insane that this is even an issue...

But let's be honest... This is the same guy who cost Wake a year in development by sitting him behind freaking Joey Porter because he WRONGLY assessed his ability!!! What was the reasoning Jeff??? 'Wake Couldn't play the run'... and yet they sat him behind the guy who was the very definition of one dimensional in Porter his entire career... Seriously, Incredible...

And Wake said nothing.. And Wake practiced hard... And Wake played even harder... And now he has to ASK to be appreciated... I hope he shuts down negotiations plays his ass off finishes the deal and walks to an organization and a GM that appreciates him... Not one that intends to screw him as hard as they can. It's what we and Ireland deserve. Ridiculous.
