One article on ESPN says Beck likely to start

Until the pre-season when the QB battles actually take place, speculation is irrelevant. It's Beck's job to lose though.

It will be enjoyable hearing camp reports, seeing who rises to the top. Obviousy, I'm hoping for Beck, and feel he certainly has the capabilities and fortitude to put last year behind him. We'll see how it goes.

just hope whoever the qb is when the season starts does well

I don't understand this line of thinking, and I've seen the same thing said by many posters.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking Beck, but he was a rookie that was thrown into a few games last year in desparation by a bad coach on a 1-15 team. That doesn't make the job his to lose. It means he is solidly in the running for the job, but it wasn't his.

The Mannings, Brady, Brees, Romo, McNabb, etc.... those are the guys you can say "it's their job to lose".

Once again, no disrespect to John Beck...just trying to put things in perspective. I fervently hope all three candidates are so good that the coaches have a hard time making a decision.

It's his job to lose, if it wasn't he wouldn't be throwing thousands of passes in the off-season with them trying to fix anything wrong with him last year. It's certainly not Chad Henne's job to lose, the rookie. The battle is between McCown and Beck, and with Beck the incumbent from last year i would think he'd have to play poorly in the pre-season for McCown to win the job.

So the qb who plays best will not get the job?

Right now like McCain and Obama, Beck is merely the "presumptive nominee" but only if or until he's ultimately "ratified" at the TunaIrelandSprarano Convention, he can claim no more than the inside track for the starting job.

Personally a bad example. Both McCain and Obama have no competition for the job and clearly won the nominations on the field. Beck has not even had a primary victory yet. Good attempt though.

I like when ESPN annoints someone a starter when they never attended any of the off-season minicamps and training camp and full pad practices have NOT started yet.

Likely to start is different from IS going to start so lets see what happens

The bottom line here is we should all be rooting for one of the 3 QB's, regardless of their names, show they're clearly better than the other 2.
