I agree, and that was my point. They had a hell of an insight in Philbin. It had nothing to do with money though. Flynn was going to be a starter somewhere, regardless of money. If Philbin thought he was a starter, he would be here and we would have paid (assuming Ireland isn't a jackass, which is assuming a lot). The decision had far less to do with money and far more to do with his ability. You can't, in anyway, overpay for a franchise QB. Clearly Philbin didn't think he qualified as one.
We should be thankful it had less to do with money than ability (again, giving them the benefit of the doubt in assuming such). Going cheap on the most important position in football is flat out stupid.
Money is always a factor.
You never overspend for such a small sample size.
Of course they would know what they are buying....... Philbin didn't want him obviously. You drive down the price by staying away.
The moment he made the visit his price went higher.
