No you DONT GET IT. Everything bad for Miami IS WORST CASE SCENARIO

Plus Pete Carrol has yet to have a winning season up there. A large part of that is because he doesnt have a quarterback. He seems to get that it is of the upmost importance. If you end up with 2 starting quarterbacks, all the better. If you feel like a prospect can be a franchise quarterback, you pull the trigger, no matter who else is on your roster. Its not like the Eagles havent shown just how many draft picks you can get for potential starters.

Not a huge Clayton fan, but he was 100% dead on this time!

Only a clueless idiot like Ireland couldn't see that signing Flynn would be public nightmare and put the franchise in a desperate situation this draft.

Good to hear from you again! Unfortunately I think you and I are in the minority on this. I agree with you however...I think Ireland has been "strongly encouraged" to get either Tannehill or Weedon. I think Philbin knows you build a West Coast offense around a QB...not fill in the gaps and make a WC QB. I like both Tannehill (although I would not trade up for him) and Weedon. Either would at least give us a compass heading!

Just been real busy....but anyone who doesn't realize the Dolphins simply have to start to take gambles to find a great QB lacks an understanding of todays NFL, and lacks and understanding of the major errors made in the previous 12 years of Dolphin history. This franchise has....since Marino....tried to make do with second tier players at the QB position. The only exception was Daunte Culpepper, and even then they took their second choice because they lacked the courage to gamble on Drew Brees for a second time. I screamed on this board for them to draft Aaron Rogers....and they took the part time runner Ronnie Brown.
 
I just don't understand why we HAVE to reach on a guy at number 8, and make no mistake it is a reach, he's the third best QB available and only in demand because so many teams are without QB's, when we are in no position to win anyway. It's not like this team is a "Quarterback away" - Not anymore, not as currently constructed. They need MAJOR work EVERYWHERE. I'd be more in favor of trading down, perhaps to one of those teams trying to jump on Tannehill, and securing more picks to build with in the draft. If there's one thing Jeff Ireland has done in Miami it's draft decently. If Tannehill ends up becoming this franchise QB that is so great, then I guess we fail again, UNLESS we make do with what we gain from trading down - the smart pct. play.

This is why I question the animosity towards Ross and Ireland right now. What has happened in the past just doesn't matter any more. Irish bears some blame for last season, but now he has a new HC with new philosophies in the type of players he needs to acquire, he starts over. What happened with Pat White, AJ Feeley, CPep, Brees, Green, Penny, White, Lucas...none of that matters now. Have the past regimes made mistakes at QB...no doubt about it...but that doesn't have anything to do with today...

and with the new CBA I don't see what all the fuss is about either, if you miss on a QB in the draft grab another one next year. It really isn't rocket science, if you have a need at QB you have to address the need in order to fix it and rarely do you find a franchise QB via free agency.

Count me in on the minority.

Because QB IS THE MOST important position inthe NFL today...a QB who is a "mid-to-late " first rounder is NOT a "reach" at #8. QB is simply not on the same PAR as other positions in the NFL...that's why...
 
QB is the most important position, exactly.. how are we going to win without a leader??

Tannehill throws better then RGIII and Luck, he has to develop a little more but he's right there

Completely disagree with his statement that they should have signed Flynn. For goodness sake, we have our HC who was his OC and knows him inside and out... if he said, Jeff go get him, he's the man... then you don't think they would have forked out franchise money for a franchise QB? no... they didn't because the guy that coached him wash't convinced...

That my friends, is good enough for me.

He did. While Miami was chasing after Manning, Philbin kept in contact with Flynn to let him know he was "his guy" and would be a important part of this team if we missed out on Manning. Flynn got to Miami and got a borderline insulting offer, so he left. Then it comes out that players are warning other players to avoid Jeff Ireland, Flynn states that "there was a better feeling in Seattle than Miami", former free agents we brought in bash our general manager, our owner starts calling fans, and our front office then begins going after Alex Smith and David Garrard. The most hilarious thing about all of it is we offered more to Kyle Orton a year ago. Then again, we had more cap last season(which is another insulting situation).

The revisionist history on this site is outstanding. Our GM spent this entire offseason pushing for full control. He chased off other head coaches(Bill Cowher and Jeff Fisher) because HE needed to be in full control. And what happens when hes in full control and makes questionable decisions? "Oh the coach probably talked him out of it!!!!". Unbelievable.

There is a reason why Richard Marshall is making $5 million this season while Cameron Wake is making less than $700,000. And that reason is not good general managing.
