One HUGE key for this team:

I think with some time, he'll get a little better at 'em. I love having Gates on our team now, he is burning people left and right

One huge key for this team is finding chemistry in the deep ball.
Are you suggesting that Henne and the boys should be sticking around after practice and working on the Your run that way really really fast and I'll throw the ball to you plays?

Wouldn't be a bad idea.

Patience from the fanbase is all that's needed and the reward will be plenty of long passes for touchdowns. They're coming! We're missing by what? 2 inches? A little more air under the ball and there's the difference between an incomplete and a touchdown. These things take alittle time with a new player so keep in mind that Gates just got here. Dabol is working with Henne, it will pay off soon.

Reggie Bush scares teams with the short pass.

Brandon Marshall scares teams with the medium pass.

We need Clyde Gates to scare teams with the deep pass. Once we connect on a few, defenses won't be able to cheat their safeties anywhere. We'll have scary targets all over the field.

We are expecting the deep ball this season, or at least throw it long a couple of times a game like Linehan, Gus and Chris Chambers did.

The difference being that C Gates is much faster then C Chambers ever was.

Yes sorta...All the research indicates that athletes are served by slowing down the mechanics of the process and getting it correct... the process is slow and smooth - until smooth makes fast...

Receivers need only run 20 yard bursts and the qb needs to go through a procedure of looking of the safety finding the receiver with his vision first and letting his body make the throw.

The fan base - namely me - has NO patients. Nor should I.

The NFL is all about WINNING the SUPER BOWL!

So I find it particularly annoying to be asked to be patient since the last time I tasted glory was 1973/74. I was learning to tie my shoes, and use a pair of scissors.

Lets face it Henne's problems that he showed on Friday night are fixable. BUT he must fix it now. He must turn the corner on the deep ball or we will lose. Once we lose their will be NO patients for him.

So I am highlighting what needs to be adjusted...It either does or we are in for a very tough season.

With the deep ball everything opens up - quick strike ability. Confidence. Defenses being spread thin. Multiple threats with different looks and this team can open other defenses up and take them apart.

The Jury is out with Chad Henne right now and his ability to slow down and make the deep throw COUNT!

His problems are psychological/neurological. He lacks poise and confidence that would allow him to relax just a bit and allow the game to slow down just a bit more for him. Then he could look and allow his body determine just where his receiver can best catch the ball.

Hartline was visibly aggravated/frustrated with Henne over threw the deep ball - and Henne missed that new kid #10 twice. He also missed Hilliard (#26) down the sideline on a scramble. Henne had another second in that one two.
If we succeed with the deep ball we can play with anyone. If not we will continue to be average or worse.

you just made this up didnt you? lol

hartline was not pissed at henne. and griese, cefalo, and rose were all saying how chad was composed and confident.

yeah and gates and henne just need time and reps and it will come. yeah, be patient.

imo its just timing that he lacks between himself and the wrs but bob greasie said ,and i agree with him that the timing will come and he will start conecting with the wrs on the long ball.

I did not "just made this up".

I was interpreting and I thought I saw Hartline have a bit of an outburst just after the pass went sailing 2 yards out of bounds into no-mans land. Understandably he was frustrated because Henne could have thrown a much more catch-able ball with little risk of interception and we all know that Henne has put Hartline here before!

I heard that more than a couple of times in the army.
