 i haven't been on lately so i don't know if this has been posted but here goes: any one else wonder if nick had already planned to leave last off season when he went with dante over drew and traded for joey?since nick had last say about players who would have questioned it?maybe he was thinking that if the team was good it would be difficult to leave.just my gut feeling after sitting back and hearing the interviews and reading the fish wraps.here's to a good coach and a great team in 07.

He went with DC b/c he probably thought it was the safer pick. Obviously it wasn't.

Good bye Nicky

Yes and for all of you that want closure it is my understanding that Chris Mortensen will have the Sportscenter Sunday conversation with him (Nick)this coming sunday.

Oh yay, Im not going to waste any more time of my life on that guy. Except that is, for rooting for alabama to lose.

I think Dick Andersons' advice to kick Saban to the curb and move on is the best advice. It sounds like he created a dysfuctional staff in Miami given his relationship with their personnel people and everyones feelings on his staff about him and Scott Obrian. Now I dont understand why WH would have wanted him to stay.He is a college coach.

your saying saban intentially tanked the team so it would be easier for him to leave? :sidelol:

i dont have the time to make fun of that statement the way it deserves to be, so ill just sum up my opinion...

it's simply asinine to think that. if he wanted to leave, a good record wouldnt stop him. if anything a good record (ideally a playoff spot) would allow him to say that he turned the team around and could leave on a high note. also, if he really wanted to tank the team he could do it without signing bad players, he could simply coach them and gameplan poorly. the fins went on a hot streek in the middle of the season. if he wanted the fins to lose, the fins would have a top 5 draft pick.

The reason Saban left IMO is that it was harder than he thought it would be. If we were in the playoffs this year we would'nt be looking for a coach. As far as getting Daunte Saban just made a gut call and he missed but who is to say that Daunte wont come back strong next year. Saban did love the college game better that is why he left he didnt have success here so he went back to what he loved most.

 You are correct.....

IMO Saban left because he realized that the moves and decisions he had made had not improved the team and if anything they had slid backward. He knew he was on the verge of making coaching suicide if he was not successful in Miami. He also knew it was time to get out of town before he was run out of town. I imagine he thought if he waited he might lose appeal to the major college programs.

Honestly on paper, Daunte and Joey were good pickups, it just didnt work out.

Saban had his first losing record and his ego couldn't handle it. There is no way that he tanked the season intentionally, just like there is no way that Chambers intentionally drops passes.

He knows exactly what our situation here is, and didn't want to blemish his career with another possible losing record...

He was man enough to cash the big checks, but when the going got tough and dirty and it was time to roll up his sleeves he bailed, and worst he used his wife as an excuse...

I think Wayne was taking a little backhanded swipe at Saban when he kept repeating that it is ALL about winning now, like maybe before it was only partly about winning...:fire:

I agree with this . . . this is how Saban thinks.
