One more reason to want Manning

the ultimate goal is to win a superbowl but the dolphins and jets havent done that in a long time so in comparing the 2 teams, playoff wins is where it is at

face it the dolphins have been a loser franchise for nearly 20 years now while the jets continue to be a contender every year

if you take out 1999 2003 2005 and 2007 when the jets starting qb got hurt the jets have been a perennial contender in the league every year

Must suck to be a contender every year for 20 years and never once get further than the conference title game

you have fans still bragging about your 2008 div title.

If any of you guys say you wouldn't rather make the title game, have a chance to make the SB, and lose rather than not be in the playoff race you are either liars or you don't like winning.

Every offseason I hear from you guys how Miami will be better than the Jets and we always seem to be better than Miami for some strange reason.

a penchant for posting **** on the internet.:chuckle:.ill admit you make me laugh nyjunc...where do you get this stuff man?keep it coming though,it seriously is entertaining.

i have never bragged about any of our afc championship losses.we have had countless moral victories in our history but i never like to reflect upon them much less boast about them in 50% of my posts. but you are correct, i would much rather lose in championship game or in a playoff game than be mediocre.

winning the 2008 afc east champioship was nice at the time and we have 13 of them(jets have 2 by the way), but the 2008 season was a farce just like when the jets backed into the playoffs 2009.

I wouldn't say it was a farce. The schedule wasn't tough but the Dolphins won the division and only lost 5 games. None of the losses were to bad teams. The Texans (who always beat us) was the worst team at 8-8. The other 4 teams were AZ (NFC Champions), Jets (9-7), NE (11-5) and Bal (AFCC game).

It was nothing like the Jets 2009 regular season. The Jets lost 6 out of 7 at one point and lost to 7-9 Mia (x2), 7-9 Jax, 6-10 Buff, and with the playoffs on the line 9-7 Atl. If it wasn't for the Colts pulling the starters, they never make the playoffs.

The Jets backed into the 2009 playoffs by winning 5 of our last 6? and once in we won TWO playoff games or 2 more than Miami from 2001-2011.

It sucks losing in the title game but it's much more fun on the journey to the title game than missing the playoffs or never winning playoff games like Miami.

What about from 2004? Or 2005? Or 2007? 2009 only supports your theory in it's limited time span

2004 we were a missed kick from another title game app. '05 and '07 we had QB injuries, '09 and '10 we made title games.

it's better than not being a contender for 20 years like Miami, right?

It wasn't a farce b/c Miami did what they had to do to win the division just like the Jets did what they had to do to earn a WC spot in 2009. It was easier for Miami in '08 w/ no Brady, favre choking and an incredibly weak sched but they took care of business. The 2009 Jets were a much better team than the 2008 dolphins, that was proven in postseason.

The Jets won 3 games against bad teams and then faced 2 teams that had no desire to win. Once in, they faced a horrible Bengal team, and an overrated SD team that missed 3 FGs in a 3 point loss.

The Brady excuse is exaggerated greatly. Each AFCE team only play the Pats 2 times a year. Prior to the 2008 season, Brady and the Pats have only swept the Dolphins 1 time in 2003. They usually split, and 2008 without Brady was no different. The 2008 Pats without Brady were just as good as the 2009 Pats with a Brady coming off of a knee injury. They only won 10 games in 09 and got trounced in the playoffs to a 9-7 Bal team.

Both the Dolphins 08 schedule and the Jets 09 schedule were pretty easy. The difference is the Dolphins only lost 5 games, and all to pretty good teams.

Not only did the Jets lose 6 of 7 at one point, they lost to several bad teams unlike the Dolphins. You can use the weak schedule excuse, but you have to apply it to the Jets as well. They beat teams like Car 8-8, Buff 6-10, Oak 5-11, and the Bucs 3-13. Their 2 best wins were against NE 10-6, and Hou 9-7 which were the first 2 games of the season. With the playoffs on the line, they couldn't even beat Atl at home. The only reason they made it in was because the last 2 teams on the schedule had no interest in winning. That is very different than playing bad teams that are trying their hardest to win the games.

Miami beat 6 bad teams then got humiliated when they faced a good one at home in the WC round.

It's not about sweeping the dolphins w/ Brady it's about NE winning the other games. We needed to go to OT to beat Cassell- you don't think Brady leads them to a win over us? that one win makes it 12-4 for NE and a div title, w/ Brady that team is a completely different team and they likely would have been 13-3 or 14-2.

The difference is the Jets had a qtr and a half of Indy backups while Miami had 5 games against teams as bad or worse than the Indy backups to end the season.

Not only did Miami have the good fortune of playing a season where Brady was out but to end the season they faced dead team after dead team and still struggled w/ most of them.

In 11 wins Miami outscored opponents by just 90 pts
In 9 wins the Jets outscored opponents by 160 pts.

No one will ever know what Brady would have done in 08. Maybe they could have won a couple more games, but who knows. The 5 teams the Pats lost to in 08 all would have had a good shot to beat them with Brady. The 09 Pats were not a strong team with Brady so I don't buy that the 2008 team was a much easier team to face than the 09 team.

It is not just about facing backups. It is about facing teams that had no desire to win. Everything was already wrapped up for them and they were not going to play offense and defense like they usually would since they were getting ready to head in the playoffs. That is very different from playing bad teams with coaches and players trying their best to keep their jobs.

Brady has a long history, we know NE would have at the very least won one more game in 2008 and at least won the division. I'd bet he leads them to at least 14 wins but putting that aside they would ahve at least won one more game.

what teams had a desire to win among the last 5-6 teams Miami faced in 2008?
