Think about it. Week one, the Jets game, the Favre prayer was complete garbage... but despite that, our team STILL put themselves in a position to win (something we seemingly had no hope for last year) on 3rd down with 10 seconds left in the game, Penny threw the pick in the endzone.

He completes that pass, and not only are we 5-3, but we're 3-0 in the AFC east and #1 in the division as well.

I was thinking about that this morning. These Dolphins are so much fun to watch now that they can sustain drives and put some points on the board. The defense is improving every week it seems. I hope people start going to the games and showing some support down in FL. Last year was a disaster...

I would have never thought that going into week 10, we would be a team that was one play away from leading the division. This year, no matter how the rest of the season plays out, I think it's already a pretty large success. I'm proud to be a Phin' fan! :dolphins:

They have all been inconsistent. Maybe next week we could be tied for second.

You are assuming alot, that play happened in the 2nd qtr. You had 3 qtrs to recover from it- who knows what would have happened if we didn't complete that play? If our K doesn't get hurt we aren't even attempting the play and he hits the chip shot he missed so there wouldn't have been any difference in the score.

You could argue 6-2

The texans game was a joke. We should have won that game but our defense was a joke.

I have less trouble rationalizing the Jests loss than I do that last few seconds Houston debacle. Either way a case can be made, but we dug our own grave in each instance. We're so close, Favre and Edwards are imploding, Cassel has regressed from his Chatsworth HS days and there are enough games left that these fiascos shouldn't factor into the final analysis.

The OP wasn't talking about the prayer pass.

He was saying if Pennington makes the pass, as opposed to throwing an INT on 3rd down with like 3 seconds left, then we are in first place.

Like Vaark said its the Houston loss I can't live with . . . more importantly the amazing Andre Johnson catch where Bell should have knocked the ball away on fourth down.

But it is what it is, and really that loss probably ends up being better for this team in the long run, shows the teams character comming back from such heartbreak to get back in the thick of things.

We still control our own destiny in the AFC East, and that is exciting to see and hear 8 games into it.

We are what we are. We could easily have lost a couple of the games we've won and then we'd be 2-6.

I was responding to the 1st post which discussed the Favre "prayer".

lol... to call that throw anything other than a prayer is complete denial.

And I mentioned it because it still irks me, lol... granted, we should have had it covered, but it was a completely ridiculous throw.

The main idea of the post though was that if that last play where Penny threw the int would have been completed, we could be #1 in the AFC east, plain and simple... Maybe I didn't get that across, but I meant the post as more of a testament to how far our team has come and not a slight against the Jets.

its good we took our lumps and hard losses the build character..
Losing like we did the the texans hurts way worse than the way we did to the cards.
The jets loss is in its own category Pennington was still getting used to the team.

Please stop. New York has looked like complete **** all season long. I will be putting the house on Miami to beat New York. No one wants to prove more to New York then Chad Pennington and he will do just that.

Exactly. Lots of different things couldve happened from that point on.

However, the play that more obviously couldve effected the outcome of that game was when Ronnie Brown didnt know the play and forced the Phins to use a timeout. With that extra TO, the phins couldve been looking to complete a pass over the middle of the field on that last drive. Thats something Pennington was doing well all game, all year, and his whole career......completing 7-8 yard passes over the middle.

The phins couldve gotten the ball to around the 7 or 8 yard line and called that TO that Ronnie forced us to waste and taken a few shots from there instead of the spot we were at where Pennington obviously struggled trying to get it in the end zone. Personally, I think we wouldve had a good shot to pull it off with that TO.

Thanks Ronnie. You might cost this team a division title because you didnt know the plays.

"Could've, would've, should've" isn't gonna get us anywhere. Lets just hope they can wildcat the Jets to death next time.
