Isaiah Simmons is the reason. I liked him before the combine but after I got him up there with Young. If burrow goes 1st and if we are after a QB then Tua or Herbert should be there at 5. But if not then Young or Simmons will be and they are my top 2 rated players in the draft.

The more that Young and the likes of Simmons, Okudah and Brown impress over the next several weeks the less likely Washington and the Lions are to want to miss out on them. Fingers crossed they all nail their pro days.
That would give us a good chance to land Herbert as our franchise QB going forward.

Yet the majority view on this forum is that you have to have a franchise type QB to be any good in the NFL. Right now none of the teams drafting before the Dolphins have a franchise type QB and so if these teams think that Burrow, Tua, and Herbert can be better than the QB’s they now have, they would be foolish to not draft these QB’s.

While your point here may be valid there is very little chance at any of those teams other than Cin taking a QB. Both the Redskins and Giants like their young QB's. Dont be fooled by what Arizona did last year... that is very far from a normal scenerio as teams pretty much Never give up on a high 1st round QB after one season. The Lions coaches and GM's need to win now or they will lose their jobs and the best shot of them winning is rolling with their Vet QB who was having a good season before he got injured last year.

I think Arizona is a sign of things to come.

I suppose if they were to somehow show some semblance of success, other teams might take note, but why, at this point, would anybody copy such an unsuccessful (at least recently) organization?

Was it a mistake in evaluation with JR? Possibly, perhaps even probably, but the clown show that is the top of that franchise could fook up a wet dream, to quote my dear departed father. I don't believe, until I see it, that Murray is going to fare very well there either.

They cut bait on Rosen immediately, admitting their mistake instead of compounding it by sticking with a QB who isn’t it for several more seasons and drafted the offensive rookie of the year. That’s admirable.

It is really very simple, IF Miami thinks Tua is the guy they have to have then you make sure you get him by trading up(within reason of course). You pay the price for your franchise QB.

IF they are not in love with Tua then stay put and go BPA at 5 or move down.

I can't see BPA at 5 being Herbert so that means the best defensive player/OT at 5 and then you try to land a QB at 18 or by moving up from there if they have to.

I would be fine with Simmons/Brown/Kinlaw or Wills/Wirfs at 5 and then finding away to get Love, either at 18 or by moving up a bit.

Or you move down from 5 and still get the QB you want somewhere in the 1st half of round 1.

I can understand your point, but that team has more issues than just the QB.

Let me know when they have a 10 win season.
I would definitely wager the Phins get there before AZ.

I would have to agree that Herbert is likely not BPA at #5. I also don't know that Tua is either. When you are comparing the effect a QB has to that of another position, I don't see it as apples to apples.

There's a ton of pre-draft noise out there. Wild tales about Brady signing with another team etc. We're just as guilty as any other team so we're throwing around a bunch of untruths. Nobody wants to tip their hand so listen with a grain of salt. In my opinion Miami wants Tua, badly and their going to have to use assets to get there. No big deal if he becomes the player in the NFL that he's been in college. I think Tua is a safe bet to make the transition easily and become a star in the NFL. Go up and get 'em. Then don't forget to build a rock solid o-line. Got to do it this off-season.

I don't think they trade Rosen without the head coach change after 1 year. If kliff lost 15 games with Murray and ended with the 1st pick would he cut bait again and draft the qb with the best season ever?
