Still Perfect.. and You're Not.
April has gone by so fast and now it's time for the draft. My favorite day or days of the year. I am finishing my final 7-round mock when I went through my draft archives. I saw my initial mock has us drafting Aaron Curry in Round 1, BJ Raji and Larry English in Round 2, and Sean Smith in Round 3. Wow can time chage things as Curry might be the best player in the draft, Raji is a Top 10 pick and English and Smith find themselves sniffing in Round 1. Who will the Dolphins draft? I really like Darius Butler but Clay Matthews, Vontae Davis, Hakeem Nicks, Larry English and Michael Johnson on real possibilities. If Rey Maualuga were to fall I think he would be our pick without question and rightfully so.
Why should we go Darius Butler? After seeing our schedule I think it is imperative that we improve the quality of our secondary. We play the Saints with Drew Brees, the Colts with Peyton Manning, Texans with Andre Johnson who owned us last year, the Panthers with Steve Smith who scored 3 TD's on us the last time we played, we play TO twice in Buffalo, and don't forget Tom Brady is back in New England. I think Vontae Davis and Darius Butler are both fine players but Butler is a high character guy whose work ethic just marvels. I am not confident that Sean Smith will fall to pick #44 b/c if I knew that for certain I'd go a different route.
Simon Clancy aka Boomer brings up an interesting scenario in his mock where the Dolphins select Brandon Pettigrew. I will be the first to say that Tight End isn't our biggest need but this guy is special. He is without question the best Tight End to come out in a very long time. He can catch, run, and most importantly he is a stout blocker. Another name that could surprise some people is Tyson Jackson out of LSU. This guy was born to be a 3-4 Defensive End.
Speaking of pick #44 that is going to be our "money pick" this year. Ron Brace, Clint Sintim, Paul Krugar, Sean Smith, Hakeem Nicks, and possibly Larry English could fall to this spot. Having two picks in Round 2 is just huge.
Unfortantly I will be missing Day 2 of the draft but I will be getting married on that day and then Cabo bound for a week. It makes it easier that we have absolute genius' drafting for us. I am on a business trip until Friday this week so this weekend will be my last on the forums for two weeks. I will be posting my Final mock before I leave Monday morning. Guys, have a great time watching the draft and I can't wait to discuss our NEW Dolphins in two weeks.
Until then.. Peace Homies
