just wondering what you guys think about some free agency help in our secondary. Deltha O'neal will likely be cut by Cinci and Mike Doss will likely be cut by Indy. Mike Doss is a damn good safety, but he's just been hurt, and Deltha O'neal was one of the league leaders in interceptions last season.

I would prefer to stay away from them. Both of them are slightly above average defensive backs who probably won't be worth the money they'll get. There is a reason that O'Neal is likely to get cut, he had a very dissapointing season. Doss is pretty good when healthy, but he is always hurt, so I don't think it would be worth it to pursue either of them.

Oneal is 30 years old, registered 1 interception in 2006 and is pending trial for DUI. Oneal also missed 4 games this year.

Doss missed 9 games this year and was arrested in 2005 on gun charges.

The only secondary help Miami should be securing is the cheaper of Asante Samuels/Nate Clements.

Everything is reflected in its price. Anybody expecting Miami to land either is dreaming. Kris Dielman would be a coup, let's just say that. Our cap room is pathetic compared to other teams.

doss isnt even a good player he got outplayed by bethea the rookie out of howard and he has a huge lack of speed we dont need him at all in our secondary.

We actually won't be so bad after a few cut's and restructures. I was 4 hours into a thread about it yesterday when I accidentally hit the back button and erased all the work and research I had put down. I'm not about to start it up again but take a look at some of theses cap numbers http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...1.htmlstory?coll=sfla-sports-utility-dolphins and you can figure with cut/trading Mare, Wilkinson, Harrington, McKinney, Anderson, Chambers, Booker and restructuring Taylor, Thomas, Chambers, Culpepper, Carter, James, Shelton, Booker, we won't be in terrible shape.

The way I see it, we only need 3 FA's from other teams: Asante Samuels, Kris Dielman, Terdell Sands.

Adams, Keith LB UFA release/ Barnes, Darian FB UFA sign/ Bell, Yeremiah S RFA sign/ Berger, Joe OGERFA ?/Bowens, David DE UFA sign/ Denney, John LS ERFA sign/ Eckel, Kyle RBERFA sign/ Fonoti, Toniu OGUFA sign/ Holliday, Vonnie DT UFA release/ Jackson, Eddie CB RFA release/ Jacox, Kendyl CUFA sign/ Jones, Donnie P RFA sign/ Lehan, Michael CB UFA release/Lemon, Cleo QB RFA sign/McIntosh, Damion OTUFA release/Minor, Travis RB UFA sign/Morris, Sammy RB UFA release/Newman, Keith LB UFA release/Spragan, Donnie LB UFA sign/Tillman, Travares S UFA release/Traylor, Keith DT UFA sign/Vickerson, Kevin DT ERFA sign/Welker, Wes WR RFA sign/Zgonina, Jeff DT UFA release

Edit: oops this was the link I ment to put up http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...1.htmlstory?coll=sfla-sports-utility-dolphins sorry.

Not so bad...

Sure, our cap room is not great but it's not as bad as other teams cap rooms'.
Here are some of them. Check them out...
Atlanta Falcons 3.8 mil
Baltimore Ravnens 3.3 mil
Carolina Panthers 1.8 mil
Chicago Bears 16.8 mil
Denver Broncos 2.6 mil
Detroit Lions 15.6 mil
Houston Texans 16.65 mil
Indianapolis Colts 200,000:lol:
Kansas City Chiefs 5.1 mil
Miami Dolphins 13.1 mil
Minnesota Vikings 12.2 mil
New York Giants 9.4 mil
Oakland Raiders 6.2 mil
Philadelphia Eagles 3.6 mil
Pittsburgh Steelers 3.1 mil
Seattle Seahawks 17.2 mil
Tampa Bay Bucs 15 mil
Washington Redskins 4.3 mil

Sure other teams like the 49ers have about 37 million but we could be worse.

i would take both of them....for one delta oneal had 10 ints 2 years ago he is a solid corner ....and doss would be a upgrade compared to our safeties on miami....so you guys are saying it wont help us??? give me a break....yeremiah bell not good at all get rid of him....tillman get rid of him....only keep reynaldo hill and jason allen....sign doss and michael lewis from the eagles...and now u call that a real secondary...with oneal signing too with will allen on the other side now u can call us contenders...get rid of andre goodman he sucks too...

so safeties would look like jason allen, reynaldo hill, michael lewis, & mike doss....tell me that aint sick

With cuts and restructures we can easily get over the 20 mill mark.

IMO, it's not going to be any where near impossible to sign Samules, Dielman, and Sands. It's just going to take a little bit of ingenuity. I have faith in Mueller.

Jason Allen has done nothing in this league yet. Renaldo Hill is an average starting safety. Michael Lewis is awful in pass coverage and is very overrated. I believe was benched in Philly last year. Mike Doss is always hurt. It would be a collection of four average to above average safeties all with a number of question marks and would do nothing to improve our most glaring need in the secondary, CB. I wouldn't exactly call that sick.

We need to say away from FA for awhile and get our books straight. I think we should be rebuilding our team through drafts. When get close to where we need to be I'ld look towards FA to fill in one or two missing pieces, but we have too many things to fix by spending big money on FA. Obviously if theres someone out there willing to come in here at a much undervalued cost I'ld take him but in general we need to stay away from FA and trading away draft picks.
