Only Ross Wants Manning Anyway

You may be right. The rumors we heard early on, were that Ross was quoted to be "obsessed" with signing Manning. I however disagree that Ireland is a nobody GM........... he's going to be one in this league for a long, long time. From what we know of Ross, it makes sense that he would jump at the name Peyton Manning before looking at the football side of it. It could be possible that Ross wants Manning, Philbin wants Flynn, and Ireland wants Moore/ or even Henne. Just a thought. Perhaps these mentions of our front office being whack are legit. Marino may have even unintentionally warned Peyton.

Ross didn't publicly say a word about Manning. You say it yourself, it was a rumor.

If Philbin doesnt want Manning, id be pretty worried

Holy Crap, Mannings been a free agent for what five whole days and we haven't signed him. The front office didn't trade with St. Louis to get RG3. Nobody has mentioned Matt Flynn since - well I can't remember when. We're doomed......doomed I tell ya.

Good players and coaches still sign with Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones all the time. Can anyone seriously tell me that Ross is more meddlesome than either of them?

I don't want us to get Manning either.....I want us to draft a QB in round one and let Philbin and Sherman do their thing....you bring Manning here and we'll have to do his thing which will last a couple of years and then we'll have to start all over again and will still be paying Manning 5 years from now and we will not win a superbowl with him. Wow, I said it.

Ozzy rules!!

Actually Green Bay had a future HOF vet and a highly regarded prospect and hardly missed a beat in the transition. Giants before that. SF before that.
We can sign Manning and perhaps draft a Barkley or Jones next year and decide for ourselves when to make the switch, barring injury. It's not like your rookie project was going to carry us to the promise land this year.......... we CAN sign Peyton AND develop a franchise QB in the process, you know.

I don't believe Philbin nor Ireland want Manning. Ross is a meddling owner who has mishandled his team and hurt the Team's once proud reputation. I think Peyton knows this and has acted accordingly. Ross thinks he is Parcells and Ireland is a nobody GM and Ross lackey.
If that's the case (and I don't think it is, at least regarding Philbin), then they both need to be fired.

Your kind of ignoring Peyton's current situation and going off the name like Ross may be........
Sherman/Philbin could be very confident about tannehill or flynn, and reserved about signing the 36 yr. old fresh off 4 serious surgeries, all while letting their guy slip away. No doubt, they know better than Ross about our options, and I'm sure Ross knows that. We could be head over heels for Tannehill and not too serious about manning holding him back. We could be sold on Flynn and pretending to have interest in Manning... who the hell knows !!

You're kind of ignoring the fact that an 80% Peyton Manning is 10 times the QB Flynn or Moore is, and that is assuming he doesn't make it all the way back to 100%. And if you are going to lead off with the usual "he's one hit away...," please don't bother.

I am so sick of people that think that they watch ESPN and go on the internet that they know everything about running a team.

What has Ross done that is such a disaster?
Initially kept Parcells? Well most of us felt that this was a good decision at the time since the team appeared to be on the upswing.

Went after Harbaugh? Um that was an awesome move. Didn't close the deal because he never had a chance. That was a setup to grab more money from the 49ers from the get go.

Didn't fire Sparano during a lockout season? Another smart move since we wouldn't have been able to hire a good coach in the setting of the lockout.

Failed to hire Fisher? Well we didn't want to give Jeff Fisher total control. I am 100% behind that move.

Hired Philbin? On paper the way this coaching staff is setting up we made the best hire.

Keeping Jeff Ireland? Ireland hasn't done anything tragic so to crucify Ross over that is stupid.

Friends with Carl Peterson? Carl Peterson like him or hate him has taken dumps that have more football connections and knowledge than 99% of people on finheaven. To suggest he is some sort of dope is pure ignoance. The guy was the executive beind an extremely successfull Chiefs team for almost 20 years.

Very reasonable, keeping Ireland is the best thing Ross has done while he's been here IMHO.

I think your post makes perfect sense if you have never seen anything that Ross has to say about the Dolphins on camera or in interviews. I've been watching the NFL for over 30 years now. I cannot remember an NFL owner like Ross in all the time. I can't remember anyone even close. If you are the owner and chief executive ACT like it and TALK like it, not like a casual fan.

He seems to think that he is acting in the fans best interest instead of actually being the guy who owns and runs the team. He doesn't respect the whole concept of GM and NFL coach. Name ONE other NFL owner who speaks to the press about what type of offense the team should be running.
