Only Sparano would be dumb enough to...

Great hands, and very good out of the backfield (they did play in Conference USA) He excelled when he was thrown short balls with space, or the line opened up a nice hole. He takes advantage of any sip up the d may have when the balls in his hands. Great at making people miss and staying on his feet, also can turn the burners on quick when he needs to. His 40 isnt high, but he can change speeds great. On Tulsa he was a stud. Good head on his shoulders, no messing around off field besides call of duty, and you never knew when he was going to break an 80 yard touchdown. Tulsa also had one of the most productive offenses in college football the last 3 years.

Thanks for the analysis. I hope he'll be as good for us as you say he was for Tulsa.

He was awesome on Tulsa, but they ran so many offensive plays a game. I believe more than any cfb team. Always running hurry up, trying to tire out their opponents. Completely different style O, only team in the NFL remotely similar would be N.O. We'll see how he pans out, I'll be rooting for him.

sparano is not so bright but wont fault him for this so early in game. Its not like Clay is a top prospect get what we can get out of him

Remember that Clay is the product of Gus Malzahn. When Gus was the OC at Tulsa he hand selected Clay, and created him to be the perfect piece to an offensive puzzle, centering most plays around him. He did a similar thing this year with Cam Newton at Auburn if you are looking for comparison. Yes I know one is a QB and one is whatever you wanna call him RB/TE/WR/FB, but Gus designed each one to be the most important piece on his offensive chess board. He drew up the entire offense around Clay. He did something similiar before Clay to Brennan Merrian, who we picked up as udfa two years ago.

I dont necessarily agree he shaped his whole offense for Clay but I hear what your saying

Some of you are saying that they're teaching Clay to play FB because he already knows how to play TE and it would be good to have a FB/TE. But in one of Sparano's interviews he said we're practicing what these guys do well to not throw as much at them due to the shortened offseason?

he has been running routes and catching the ball. im not going to worry clay plays everywhere

I read him saying that but I've also read in every practice just how much this guy is doing. Maybe Tony doesn't want to tip his hand in regards to Clay.

Either way, its nice to read about a potential playmaker coming from this position when we haven't heard of a talented young guy come through since McMichael.

We need someone to take a belly dive handoff on 3rd and 10 when we are in FG range so ****** can warm up his arms for his infamous 'Windmill Fist Pump"

Ground and pound baby. Can I get a fist pump?

There is no "Only" and "Dumb" to be mentioned in modern Dolphin Management, I'm pretty sure the Dolphins have had a whole crew of people in charge to do some things so remarkably dumb we could never even think of them.

Maybe you guys do not remember one of my all time favorite: Rob Konrad.... This guy was listed as a FB, reminded me a lot of Cooley (Redskins) but played like a TE. Maybe Clay will be playing a similar role like Konrad....
