"Only the foolish, Fisher said, believe success one year means anything the following year."(that also came from TP read up the article at miamidolphins.com)

I'm posting this cause I got flamed because a post I made about forget 11-5 and lets move on, And think about the future. That quote is coming from one of the most prestige coaches in the NFL today, and it cant be more accurate. There's one thing been a "Hardcore fan" who thinks they bleed aqua and orange and know it all, and there is fans of a Football Team who understand the teams weakness and toughness. I love football in general and I watch all the games I can, and analyze what teams do, choices in plays etc. And when I made that post what i was trying to say is that the phins are still rebuilding and facing a though schedule next year and we cant expect playoff or 11-5 again, we have to go day by day and see how they play when the season starts, then hope for the best. Just getting out of my chest cause some people just don't get it.

Let the flaming begin........:rimshot:

next season is gonna be tought on us dolphans me thinks. The good news is 9-7 may be good enough to win the AFC East.

i guess we have learned nothing. will not make claims to know the future. but i believe this team has proven that logical predictions make for joyful crow eating.

9-7 may win the AFC East?? With a healthy Brady?? That would very much surprise me... Not saying it's impossible but I think unlikely

yes & no

1) very important to start well in any competitive endeavor
2) nothing succeeds like success
3) luck always is the trump card
4) was an outrageously good start for the team
5) we need two more years to rebuild

I really appreciate your candor.

I think anyone who knows this sport, follows it year after year and is realistic about how things work from one season to the next understand there are no guarantess. Look at the turnaround from the SB loser, the chances are far better not to make a return to the playoffs as he SB loser than they are to return to the playoffs.

Miami still has too many holes to fill and a much tougher shcedule to believe we will have the same or better record in 09. I think we still need another two years to be in position to compete with any team in the NFL. I think Miami will be better in many ways in 09, but not necessarily in the win cloumn.

Meh.

In Parcells 1st year after taking over the 1-15 Jets, the Jets went 9-7.

In their 2nd year under Parcells, the Jets went 12-4 and an AFC Championship game berth.

The year after Carolina went 1-15, I think they went 8-8 or something like that.

But in year two after going 1-15, the Panthers had a super bowl berth.

In other words, this thread is stupid. PLENTY of good things can happen in year two after going 1-15. It has been proven.

And lastly, I would like to see if the OP had the dolphins at 11-5 last year before the season started. I would also like his predictions on how many games the dolphins would win after starting 0-2 last year.. What were they ? 4 or 5 wins at most ?

I don't think it's stupid at all, I think it's a valid argument.

Whats the point of being a deranged fan if I'm supposed to have low expectatiions?? That's no fun. 14-2 Next season or I slam my head into the wall. : )

The Dolphins are not rebuilding. The Broncos are rebuilding.

I wish the Dolphins would rebuild. One good year of rebuilding and this team could be set for a decade.

No, there are no telltale signs of the rebuild. Holiday got cut but that was just common sense business.

We still have Wilford. The FO is being super conservative. That would be fine if NE wasn't in our division. If they didn't pick in front of us and have multiple 1st day picks.

Chad Pennington led this team to the playoffs last year, not the FO.

If Chad hadn't landed right in our laps it would have been a different story.
