— We hear the Dolphins will be staging an open competition for both the kick- and punt-return gigs. Despite his blinding speed, KR Ted Ginn Jr. has yet to win over the staff, while PR Davone Bess’ dependability only somewhat alleviates the reality that he offers little big-play potential.

Love the fact there will be a audition for the KR job, but the fact the article states that Ted Ginn has not one over the staff is interesting.

Man that paragraph makes no sense to me.

Ginn has returned how many all the way? ... yes for these purposes we have to include the call backs, but certainly more than any Dolphin in years ... and hasn't won any body over?

I think perhaps it should read, "hasn't won anybody over that he can handle being both be a return man and a starting reciever".

Depends really on what they're after with our KR. If they want dependability and a simple return, then Bess/Cobbs/...maybe even pat white...?

But Ginn is the guy whose most likely going to take it to the house

Interesting twist that is common. Perhaps Ginn returned those as a result of the penalty.

He has a whopping 1 TD return. Not very impressive at all.

I dont want to get killed for this, but Ginn looked horrible in KR. The one he actually took to the house was called back.

Ginn try to hard he needs to catch and go none of this running around s*** he would be better off on KR you need to make one move and go

Horrible? How does ANYONE look horrible at kick returning? The worst a guy can do is catch it and run forward for not much. Or fumble like Bess did once.

2 of them were clean, one of them wasnt (The cleveland one i believe). The Bills one was just a mockery. Camarillo did nothing on that play and they still called the penalty on him.

Citizen Im not trying to throw Ted under the bus, but what did he do last year. He looked real bad in KR. I think Ginn needs to keep developing himself as a reciever before sticking to KR. My opinion, maybe Im wrong.

I don't disagree with that. I think if their plan is to have him as a go to wr for this team then he probably won't the KR guy anymore.

But how did he look horrible?

Thats the point I was trying to make as well. I don't feel they lack confidence in his ability to return kicks ... just perhaps in his ability to do both.

He's not a star receiver so I don't see them trying to protect him. He is not making as a return man in the NFL. Cut and dry.

IMHO Ginn needs to focus on being a true number one receiver moreso than a KR. Someone else can do that (White maybe?).

True number 2 maybe. Not #1. The Fins still need to identify a #1.
