Say what you'd like to say to Chad here in your own words. I'll be sending this letter as fanmail, but know that it likely won't be replied to. Still, he should know he's appreciated!
"Dear Chad,
I'll just come out and say it--there was no reason for me to want to welcome you onto the red carpet. I hated you. I hated the drive you engineered against us in 2002 at the Meadowlands. I hated the game winning screen pass against us in 2006. And then the news breaks this year that we signed you to a contract that I felt at the time was for too much money.
My reaction? Prior to your release, I proclaimed you had "only one good season" on your resume. After? A little more positive, but still had you pegged as the typical Dolphin quarterback acquisition - a former stud who was going to look like a former shell of what he once was in our uniform.
Unfair? Perhaps. But when you see who we've gone through over the last decade, you'll know why. But in the opening Jets game, I saw the potential that you could bring to the team. Even though you lost, there was a faint glimmer. I began to buy in after the Patriots game - while Ronnie got all of the credit for the Wildcat, nobody was talking about the drives you successfully lead out of the base offense.
I was sold by the time the Chargers game hit the 2nd quarter. But I told myself that something was too good to be true. There was no way this could be sustained over an entire season, right?
Wrong. As the Dolphins continued to remove obstacles in their path, I knew who the foreman was. The man who looked as cool and collected when playing nine points down as he was when playing seven points up.
I am selective about the Dolphin players whose names I will wear on my back. I have been this way since the Daunte Culpepper debacle, refusing to wear the jersey of any Dolphins quarterback. But on the day I turned 28...there I was with the letters "P-E-N-N-I-N-G-T-O-N" and the number "10" for everyone to see.
Nobody can take this season away from you. Be proud. You earned it.
Sincerely,
An Ecstatic Dolfan"
