Dear Dolphin draft gurus:

What do you guys think about the draft so far? Specifically, how do you think we did?

I know they like the Jason Allen pick, the rest I'm not sure of.

So far, Id say that this draft has been a success.. our biggest weak spots were taken care of early and took a high potential lineman to work with Houck. Allen, although not a flashy pick like Jackson, Holmes, Maroney etc. will turn out to be a superb pick. Before dislocating his hip early in the year, Allen would have gone in front of Michael Huff. This guy has the intangibles and instincts along with the athleticism to solidify our defensive backfield. Think a faster, more versatile version of Troy Polamalu...

Im not Boomer but I like to think Im pretty knowledable about the draft.

It's decent.

Allen, if healthy is a great pick. Top 8-10 talent and we havde a very strict medical processs, so he should be fine. Don't forget, Drew Brees failed our medical.

Hagan was something of a steal. A top 45 pick but for 2 bad days in Mobile and a bad Senior Bowl game. Should be a good contributor this year.

Toledo I don't like because of the injury issues - torn labrum, MCL injury, groin, broken foot, bulging disc in his back - and our needs at NT, but the upside is huge and a number of people are calling him a steal. I'd say a very steady, solid draft. Essentially our draft is this:

1. Jason Allen
2, Daunte Culpepper
3. Derek Hagan
4. Joe Toledo
5. Manny Wright
6. Cleo Lemon
7.
7.
7.

That's pretty damn good.

boomer, can u tell us who u think we'll get in the 7th round???? do u see us aiming for Greg Eslinger, Rodrique Wright??

Eslinger isn't a Miami center. Wright if he's there. I'd say Mike Bell, Steve Fifita, LeKevin Smith, Kevin Boothe, Justin Holland, Reggie McNeal, etc.

Because he's small blocker who plays in a different system to us. He would fit in Denver or Houston or Atlanta.

McNeil deserves a shot at QB, but can play WR

I didn't like the Toledo pick either, not b/c i don't like him or think he has potential, but b/c of all the tackles we already have. Shelton, Carey, Alabi, McIntosh and Pearson are all tackles that we already have. I can't see us keeping a project on roster with that many tackles already here. If we were going to go OLine, i would have thought maybe Matua at guard or someone like that.

do you think we should look at Parham, and Barrick Nealy?

there was one guy with a name like Darantagon Stock, something like that...offensive lineman with high ratings, but hes only 270 pounds.....yikes.

what about Mike Degory?? people used to say he was 1st round talent

Boom the pick of Toledo does that pretty much make the Vernon Carey move to guard a for sure thing.

Absolutely not.

Saban stated on NFL Network on Saturday that Justice wasn't on their mind for the 16th pick as they had a few defensive players rated higher and "Carey progressed very nicely last year".

Honestly it's sounding like all that talk and pushing with McDougle was to motivate Carey.
