Now me and my bro have been arguing for the past hour about Garnett.

He is basically saying Garnett isnt great but is good. Garnett cant carry his team. He is like Pippen.

Not I was uberly pissed off because my bro jumps on and off bandwagons more than anyone. Now 2 nights ago he was prasing KG now tonight that all changed WTF?

I said that if KG had anyone that can score over 20 PPG beside himself they would be a playoff team. The organization doesn't if try to bring in any real talent to help him out. If Minny pulled the trigger on AI, Minnesota would be in the playoffs.

He then said he might aswell wait to see what they do in the offseason but I then stated that Minny's word is nothing. They dont even try to bring in big name talent in. Now if they got Lewis in FA and Conley JR in the draft I think Minny could have a real chance. Though if Minny doesnt get any big name in FA then KG is in another losing season.

Now my Brother said KG if he wanted could average 40 (he is drunk) I said no he cant maybe 28 at most but his assist would be down. He thinks he doesnt try to win he just wants to improve his stats. At this point I was freaking pissed. He basically wants KG to change his character completly.

He also said if KG went to LA they still wouldn't win a championship because they have no supporting cast.

well what are your guys thoughts?

What L.A needs is the presence in the paint. I mean come on Kobe & Shaq? 3 Rings Kobe & KG, who was the leading rebounder for quite some time. I believe if KG ever comes to L.A Lakers will be a contending team no doubt and perhaps win more ships'.

KG=All the talent in the world, but he doesn't want the ball in crunch time.

KG gets off pretty easy when it comes to the TWolves lack of success. Now in recent years, McHale has proven to be incompetent(mainly due to a lack of draft picks plus the Cassell/Jaric trade), but for the first several years of KG's career he had a decent supporting cast. Not a Championship caliber team, but a eam that should get past the first round.

It's not like he's been surrounded by scrubs his entire career. THey got a couple good years out of Terrell Brandon, Stephon Marbury,Wally Szczerbiack(Who was an All-Star before his injury, he just didn't get along with KG),Rasho(who has always been a good defender),Joe Smith, and Tom Gugliotta(20 ppg player with Minny).

It is no coincidence that the only year KG has ever gotten out of the first round of the playoff was the year they got Sam Cassell(who is a pretty clutch player), and Latrell Spreewell(who had been to the finals). That year, KG was the go-to guy in only one playoff game- game 7 against the Kings, otherwise, it was Cassell and Spree in crunch time.

So in short, KG is a great player, but he'll never win an NBA championship unless he has someone to differ to.

Great post.

He has had some decent talent but his best year is when he had CAssel and Spree. He arugebly made Cassel into his best season ever as a NBA player. KG makes the players around him into a better player. Its true he doesn't the ball when its for the game, I wish he would change that. The only way he has any hope in Minny is if they get a outstanding player in the draft and maybe Rashard Lewis.

KG needs to come to Golden State. Get rid of Harrington and see what KG can do behind B-Diddy, JRich, Biedrens, Jackson and co

KG is definitely a great player, and LA would definitely be contenders if they got him. KG and Kobe together would win plenty of games. Especially since KG doesnt have/want to score 30 a night so he shouldnt have a problem defering to Kobe.

KG is a great player but not a #1 player for a team. Defeniatly not clutch.

He looked clutch enough rising over Shaq and Horry; nailing a three to send the game into OT.

I don't understand why the Lakers don't do everything in their power to get KG with Kobe. KG, one of the most selfish players in the game along with Kobe the most selfish player in the game. You won't have to worry about who's number 1 on the team because Garnett is selfless and the Lakers would no doubt be a contender out West. I know Bynum could turn into the next Shaq but if I am the Lakers, I'm doing what I have to to get this done!

You forget KG is playing out of position. KG is not a True PF like Duncan is, KG is a SF. Put him on a team that has a great PF like the Spurs and you got a dynasty.

KG desperately wants to be a number 2 with his number 1 talent. I think he owuld be perfectly happy passing the ball to somoene like Kobe or Wade and allowing himself to get the "scraps."

Rumors of him going to L.A. have been rampant for about two years now, but it probably won't happen. Too many forces against it. KG is too nice to demand a trade. Minnesota's GM would probably trade with any other franchise before doing business with the Lakers and L.A. couldn't get Garnett without giving up any and all supporting players with talent.

Bynum, Odom, Farmar, Turiaf and probably Walton would have to go.

I think KG sticks it out in Minnesota for one more year than opts out. At that point, he will have his choise of team to go to and would probably be a final piece to a championship puzzle for some team.

I admire KG because he has always been a team guy, but what has Kevin McHale done to get him the guys around him to contend in the playoffs?

If I was KG I would try to move to the Lakers or Miami Heat where he will have a chance.

KG was actually pretty quiet because he got a lot of hell for how he handled his contract negotiations after his rookie contract was up.

As I said in another thread, everybody wants KG and Kobe together, but the Lakers would be just like the Rockets this year; good regular season, but first and 2nd round exits. They'd have to give up so much to get KG, would not have much (if any) cap room, and have to try and get players from MLE.

Bynum,Odom, and Farmer would all have to go like Samphin said, and Walton/Turiaf would probably also be thrown in (while Minny would probably give up someone like James Reed). That would leave Kg/Kobe with a horrible cast.

No matter what teams in history had 2 superstars, they always had a good supporting cast...

Jordan and Pippen 1st 3-peat: Craig Hodges(3 point specialist),BJ Armstrong, Scott Paxson,Bill Cartwright,Horace Grant

2nd 3-peat: Dennis Rodman (All NBA Defensive team), Ron Harper (very good defender), Toni Kukoc (6th Man of the Year), Steve Kerr (3 point specialist)

Kobe and Shaq-Robert Horry,AC Green, Glenn Rice, Derrick Fisher, Rick Fox (who was decent for a few years), Devean George (ditto)

Duncan and Robinson over the years: Malik Rose,Sean Elliot,Mario Elle,Avery Johnson, Manu Ginobili,Tony Parker,Antonio Daniels, Steven Jackson,Steve Kerr.

Hell Hakeem had a very good supporting cast even before he got Drexler:Mario Elle,Sam Cassell, Kenny Smith, Otis Thorpe

If you think KG and Kobe could win a title with Smush Parker, Vlad Radmonovic, Shammond Williams, Kwame Brown,Chris Mihm,Sasha Vuijac, and Brian Cook more power to ya.

I do believe however that both the Lakers and T'Wolves will be trading people left and right this summer.

To say KG isnt Clutch is a joke. I cant recall how many 3's he has hit to tie or win the game.

Garnett is not going to opt out of his deal. The only way he can go to a contender is via trade or by signing a deal at 1/4 of what hes making now. I have yet to find an athlete willing to do that.
