Offense:
Mularkey continues to make strange calls but at least there was nothing really bad this week (unlike last). But one thing - why do we never pitch the ball and run outside, like a counter play or a sweep??? All runs seem to be up the middle.
Defense:
Did a great job of scheming to stop the run. Soft zone on 3rd downs and the ridiculous all out blitzing, especially the one on 4th down, was just stupid!
Overall:
Twice we're 4th and medium at the 35. Twice we punt, one resulting in a fumble/turnover. Then late in the game we try a field goal from 49-50 and miss wide right but plenty of length. Sorry but I just don't get it. On th and 5 from the 35 and trailing on the road to a good defensive team you either go for it or kick the FG. Punting is just giving up. Different if you have the lead.
Also, sloppy play is the sign of bad coaching.
Grades
QB - C. Got rid of the ball quick and was decisive. But bad throws at critical times.
RB - D. Slow at hitting the hole. Dancing too much. Although not much room to run.
OL - B. Pass protection A. Run blocking D. Stupid penalties again.
WR - B. Best performance of year so far.
DL - A. Excellent against the run and did a great job batting the ball down.
LB - B. Ditto above, but need to get to the QB when blitzing.
SEC - C. Coverage too soft. Stupid PI penalty at critical time. Marginal call but type that usually goes to home team.
Coaching D. See top.
