I have noticed here that almost everyone predicts Will Allen And Travis Daniels to be our starting CB's. But What about Will Poole. Before He got hurt I think he played just as good if not better than Daniels played, and from what I hear Will Allen was an underachiever in NY. Poole played the run extremely well (which saban likes) and held his own in pass coverage. There were not a lot of good things that came from the Wanny'Spiel era but I think they really hit on this guy. What do you guys/girls think?

He was graded as a late 1st to early second round talent coming out of
college. His stock slipped because of character issues...
He has kept out of trouble in Miami and in 2004 he had a pretty
good year.
It all depends on how he re-bounds from his injury and how well
he takes to Saban's system...

I think he's RIGHT Up there with Jason Allen (OR BETTER). He'll DEFINATELY get a spot, Maybe at Nickel. Or Allen could end up at Nickel this year cause Will Poole at least was here last year and started learning the system.

i see it being allen daniels and poole at nickel......with allen @ FS and Bell @ SS

The way I see it. Jason Allen and Renaldo Hill at saftey. Will Allen and Travis Daniels at cornerback. Will Poole at the nickle. All others will provide solid depth.

I'm so tired of these Will Poole threads. Goodness the guy hasn't even played one meaningless snap for us, and people are saying he's the next Surtain. Let's see what the guy has first, why get everyone's hopes up? Goodness.

Saban likes Daniels better at Nickleback than anybody else. I see 2 scenarios playing out:

1. Allen and Daniels start in the base w/ Daniels switching to "star" in the nickle package and poole handling the guy on the outside.

2. Allen and Poole start and Daniels comes in as the "star" on the nickle package.

This is not a knock on daniels...Simply put his skills translate best as the nickleback. Honestly i don't think poole will take a starting spot until he is more comfortable in the system. He could however also fight out Allen for the other starting spot... When you really think about it the competition for the spots is wide open with the front runners: Allen, Daniels, Poole, Goodman, Hill... All of these guys have started before and all are at least competant. We have MUCH better depth this year...

Actually we have seen his skills and they are good. Check the film in 2004 when he was the nickleback...(STAR)

I can't speak for anyone else, but I posted the thread because I thought he actually saw playing time his rookie year and was pretty good before getting hurt. Or did he get hurt in the pre-season? I'm not sure, but I know for a fact that he did play whether it was pre-season or regular season, and he held his own. Anyway I don't know who's calling him the next anything it sure as hell aint me. I was just wondering about people's perception of him and why everyone thinks he won't be starting.

If you look at it from a money standpoint then thats prolly the case. Hill is making 1.4 million this year...thats not back-up money.

at Cornerback:
Travis Daniels, Will Allen, & Will Poole

At Safety:
