In ancient Greece, in one of the more prosperous city-states, stood a statue of a running athelete. It was a depiction of a naked man, running flat out in a sprint. He was completely hairless, save for one long lock of hair that extended from his forehead. It was braided and trailed behind him for just a few inches.
The name of this statue was "Opportunity." It was an attempt to put in human form the fleeting nature of opportunity and how hard it was to capture it, which was symbolized by the single lock of hair. In order to seize Opportunity, one had to grab that lock of hair and hold on.
Miami has one of these naked men running by them right now that represents in its form many opportunities.
They have an opportunity to please the fan base with continued victories!
They have an opportunity to absolutely destroy the stigma of last year's 1-15 record by moving the hypen to the right by one.
They have an opportunity to stun not only the National Football League tournament teams, but a worldwide audience that keeps up with the playoffs.
They have an opportunity, as a team, to gain the respect of every team in its division, conference and league where today, almost none exists.
But of most importance, they have an opportunity to defeat the "Yankee-like" intentions of a hated Jets team...a team that cast aside a calm leader whose best quality is his ability to manage games only to embrace a different team leader whose best quality was simply his credentials of past performance.
Miami has been seizing opportunity for the most part of this current football season. Here comes another opportunity right now.
