My first game was when I was 14...in the Orange Bowl...1984 playoff game vs..Seattle. Miami won 31-10....The thing I take away from that game was how loud the crowd was...granted it was a playoff game, but I have seen about 3 games at the new stadium....(well not so new now) and I just dont feel that kind of intensity from the crowd. I love Dolphins Stadium...Its out and away from the city....lots of room and its amazing. It seems like the fans are not as close to the field as the Orange Bowl. Im hoping some old timers like myself can help me remember whats different about the two stadiums and what stadium they prefer and why?
For me...I love Dolphins Stadium....its something every fan needs to live for themselves.....nothing like it.....you will smile from start to finish...its fantastic.

If you are an old-timer then I must be ancient.;) Your experience and recollection of the Bowl is the same as mine. I saw many more games there than in the "new stadium," (I moved to NC in 1975) and it always semed to me to be the louder and more intimate (closer to the field of play) of the two stadiums. The west endzone could be especially loud and it was extremely difficult for the other team to call signals in a close game. I really believe teams did not like to play there, but of course that also had a lot to do with the competition.

The down side is there were some real bad seats (obstucted view of the field) and of course those bench seats without a back rest were a pain. And the worst thing they did to the Bowl was the years it had an artificial surface. After it was worn a little the players would slip all the time. If memory serves me correctly, the field had to be hosed down to increase traction. Thank God they got rid of it eventually.

I would love to see the Dolphins someday play in a stadium that has all the conveniences of the modern day stadium with the intimacy of the Orange Bowl.

To answer the question, the current stadium is more comfortable, however, you can take the fan out of the Orange Bowl, but you can't take the Orange Bowl out of the fan. Guess I am ancient..... too many fond memories the old stadium.

isnt dolphins stadium susposed to get a new HD screen for the start of the base ball season?

yes... much closer... plus the seating is steeper, encasing the field a bit more... plus plus, well... the Orange Bowl actually shakes... plus plus plus, the sky line is hard to beat... i would LOVE the Dolphins to play one game a year in the Orange Bowl... it'll never happen now, however...

i miss "snowflake"

I have never been there , although my sister has (to see the Jets , no less), but one thing that comes to mind is that the stadium was much closer to the pitch at the Orange bowl and the atmosphere seemed to be more intimidating then for home games. Nowadays teams dont seem so bothered about coming to Miami--in the 70's and early 80's NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE wanted to play at the Orange Bowl.

We need a SB run that will regenerize the fans. I think some of the fans have gave up but Saban will turn that around. I Havent been to neither stadium i have lived in NC all my life to far away. But like yaw say the Orange Bowl is smaller so that makes alot of difference.

You had me convienced when you said beer :D I bet it is a blast I went to a nascar race in 2002 that was a blast for me I cant even imagine what a live Fins game would be like.

The Orange Bowl? The frikkiin Orange Bowl???

Dude, that place is horrible how they continue to have major bowl games there I do not know. Its smaller which is good. But it is run down. It was built in the 80s and is run down, there aare uncomfortable seats and worst of all it has no jumbotron. You cant even see the replays from the seats. How crappy is that?

The problem with Dolphin stadium is that it was designed to house both football and baseball. Baseball stadiums are wider so you have a configuration that puts the fans further away for football. Additionally, the OB was steeper and had smaller seats. You basically were squeezing the same approximate number of people in a smaller space.

Im an old timer, followed the Dolphins since 1970, and I just always loved the Ornge Bowl myself

Yep, my thoughts exactly. The OB is a dump and doesn't compare to Dolphins Stadium at all. The only negative I have the Dolphins Stadium is with the seats being too far from the action. Hopefully they'll fix that problem someday.
