A lot of fans are freaking out over Manning going to Denver first. Thinking this is a sign of his first choice of teams. IMO, nothing could be further from the true. I was very happy to learn Miami will be after both Denver and AZ. I see this as the cat bird seat for us. If you were the hottest executive in the business work and you have several top companies hot for your services how would you handle the interviews. Say you narrowed the companies down to three, A, B, and C, but C was your first choice. Would you go to C first, hell no. I would schedule interviews in reverse order of desire and set the market as I proceed using each interview to increase the value. This is a great business plan, at the end of the day I have increase the likelihood of landing the top offer with the company I desired all along. I know Mr. Ross will not get out bid, nor do I think offensive control will derail the deal, if Mr. Ross wants Manning. Not saying signing Manning is a done deal, but because of all the above I still think we are front runners. Oh by the way, when he gets to AZ all the stories will be the same as those out of Denver and AZ will be reported on top.

Thank you! This makes so much sense, idk why people are freakin out. IMO were in a great spot right now.

I'm glad some others understand the way the process works. Manning isn't dumb, and he's going to show strong interest in DEN and AZ before he visits Miami. He's not going to give all the leverage to Miami by showing interest only in Miami. By visiting other teams before Miami, he gets everything he wants, and some more. I, too, am glad he's making Miami his last stop. Hopefully, it literally is his last stop.

Welcome to FH. Where irrational meltdowns and baseless freak outs are commonplace.

"Omg. Manning had a Denver omelet for breakfast, that means he's playing for the broncos. No!!!! That's wrong. He was caught drinking an Arizona iced tea, so he's playing for the cards. "

I actually wish this was me using hyperbole

Exactly...I agree with the OP. When I knew we made his shortlist, and were then his last scheduled visit...I felt great. I think we get him. :)

Reminds me of the "Deion Sanders Sweepstakes". Everyone was guessing where he would go.

I for one would not concern about the offensive control issue.
Here is how the conversation would go.....

Ross,'You are a rookie head coach, I gave a chance to be a head coach in the big league, and I am cutting you the checks, right??!!'
Philbin,' Yes sir.'
Ross,'You need to listen to Manning when it come to offense.'
Philbin,'Yes sir.'

Well hopefully thats not the case with Philben being just another wimp like Ireland who has no say. Im just going by how people assume Parcells made all the picks and signings.

I think this is ours for the taking as long as we don't try to get to cute/thrifty with a contract. In that instance it is good to see what other teams are offering, which might be why he is doing it....homework for us!

I think he went to Denver first because they were the most aggressive in trying to aquire him, that simple. Im also pretty damn sure that its much more impressive to have John elway call you and tell you to come on down than Jeff Ireland or even Ross if you are a football player just saying. (Im not an elway fan in the least, dont think he could hold marino's jock but just making the point)

i will guess it takes a minimum 4 year 80 million contract. That will be the lowest he will take. Broncos may offer 4 year 100 million which dolphins may not match unless they restructure a few and cut a few.

How do we match a 4 year 80 million contract? I dont see us being able to pay that much, hopefully thats not the number we need
