I saw him saying this morning that he does not believe he will be a Giant next year, but I have not seen his name on any free agent lists. Could he be a solution to our pass rush problem?
You realize our team is 5th in the league in sacks, right? So how is our our pass rush a problem? We have far more pressing needs (like def. coord. & secondary) than spending big money for a 4-3 DE who would have to learn a new position to play in our 3-4 scheme because he is too small to play DE in a 3-4 scheme.
Our defense let us down the last few weeks, but I believe we have most of the pieces in place, and only a few changes will bring us over the top.
First and foremost, the most important move is to fire Paul Pasqualoni; he is a major reason why we constantly gave up huge chunks of yds per play. His schemes have constantly put our rookie CBs in situations that were a disadvantage to them.
You know there is something wrong with our defense when your top two leading tacklers are your safeties. That's because Pasqualoni likes to line his safeties up close to play the run, and that is why our safeties and CBs are getting torched so much.
Next move is to take care of the secondary, more specifically the safety position. I know for the amount of money he is making, we are all sick and tired of watching Gibril Wilson blow coverages, drop balls, and miss tackles. Its time to cut our losses, release Wilson and find a true ball hawking free safety.
The third move would be to address the inside LB position, eventually we need to replace both Akin Ayodele and Channing Crowder, but Ayodele needs to be replaced this offseason. He is a very good depth player, but not a starter.
Overall, the most important move is to replace Pasqualoni, and bring in someone that can implement schemes that will help improve our pass defense.
