The Jaguars QB battle has gone a little different than many expected this camp. The conventional thought was that Blaine Gabbert could be pushed by veteran Chad Henne for the starting role, and third-stringer Jordan Palmer would be an afterthought. After two preseason games, Gabbert stands alone at the top of the depth chart, while Palmer's strong play has put him in the conversation for the backup roll.
Despite Palmer leading two game-winning drives already this preseason, coach Mike Mularkey confirmed to the Florida Times-Union that Henne is still the team's No. 2 QB.
Palmer has completed 14 of 27 passes for 149 yards, one touchdown and no interecptions in the preseason. Henne hasn't been as impressive, completing 8 of 18 passes for just 64 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

He was brought in to challenge the starting role, and is about to fall to 3rd string. We wasted so much time on this scrub.

It blew my mind for years that otherwise intelligent posters couldnt see that:

1. Henne was totally incapable of throwing any route that required touch.

2. 90% of his passes were short throws on routes that required receivers to stop (hooks and such) and he couldnt give us any semblance of an explosive offense.

It was plain as day. He sucked. I mean, Im glad he decided to torch the Jests about once a year, but I really didnt understand why so many people were defending him.

Don't write off the Robot. Perhaps the Big Tuna's costliest draft pick in Miami. Cost us 4 years...

LOL @ revkev coming in with the "No Thanks" button. I mean, by all means use it but Im just curious as to where in my post I was the slightest bit inaccurate?

Yo

Henne's tenure was of course a failure "no doubt" look at the wins and losses the TD to TO ratio - it is apparant that the team was sad - but try as we like how is it so easy to pin the entire teams fiasco on one guy - tyler - and then we have Electrolyte who is so insecure he "goes to fishing" for any news that might suport one's hate -

And the thread starter itself is misleading

I never once pinned our failures solely on Henne. We had a boob for a coach and have had poor draft after poor draft. QBs like Henne though, fair or not, are going to be a symbol of our futility when we look back on these days. We will all joke about how remember seeing Henne, Fiedler, Lucas, Cullpepper, Hasrrington and assorted other clowns lead this team.

it all starts with the qb, henne takes most of the blame.

It starts with the GM that picked him and failed to replace him quickly, and the coach that continued to play him. Henne wasn't a starting QB in this league and it was clear to everybody but them.

Id sign Henne back as a WR at this point.

LOL Rev Kev............. GET REAL!!!

Chad Henne is the ****ing worst. He has to be the worst QB we have had since Marino that started signifigant amounts of games. If you throw in Lucas or Beck or something, different story but, for a regular starter.... the worst. Total bum.

Tyler summed it up real well. Henne couldnt make real NFL throws. All he could hit were hooks and things like that. Henne had a strong arm and thats all. The rest of his skills were non existant.

Parcells is a ****ing joke. Most of the blame falls on him because he was the so called ****ing genius who thought we were better off with Long and Henne than Ryan and ANYBODY at LT. Total whiff. Biggest blunder in NFL draft history for the last decade of so. No one has screwed up any larger than us with that first pick. He just compounded it with that Pat White pick the next year. :bobdole:

Get real dude. Jamarcus Russell was wayyy worse. So are quite a few others, like Courtney Brown, Tim Couch, Ki-Jana Carter, and others.

At least we got a really awesome LT out of the whole deal. Beats getting nothing.

What are you talking about?

"Total whiff. Biggest blunder in NFL draft history for the last decade of so."

I wanted Ryan that year too, but this statement is complete hyperbole. There've been worse decisions.
