hmmmm...doesnt sound another Sparano was talknig about Long during practice so far....then again you cant believe the media nowadays...so Im just going to wait for TC and see how Long plays....I would just like to pint out even if Long struggles....we ahve no other choice...inless we switch Long with Vernon, but Vernon is still making the transition to the RT,odds are were going into the reg. season with Long LT and Carey as RT

He probably will struggle I heard during draft time all about his slow feet and over agressiveness with the Punch and that will hurt you with the speed rushers. But nothing to worry about I would not expect the Fins to leave him out there on an Island against them just yet either.

He will only improve. I still will say he will become a very good LT in this league

They won't be switching Carey and Long. I think it was decided from day one that Long WILL be played at LT and he will take the bumps along the way. He supposedly does struggle a little with speed rushers, but at the same time is a dominate run blocking LT. He is still a rookie and he needs to adjust to the speed of the NFL, so I won't panic in June about our new LT. He may struggle early on in the season with speed rushers, but I think that has to be expected a bit. I think he will quickly learn the ways of the pro game and become one of the elite LTs in the league.

Vernon Carey is a good but not great LT, but he is a GREAT RT. Carey needs to stay on the right side and Long needs to stay on the left side. Besides signing the remaining draft picks, Parcells/Ireland should be looking at extending Carey's contract. We need to have some consistancy on the line for once.

the profootball weekly thing is crap.this guy is talking just to talk.everything from the players are that he has great foot work and speed.not one person has said anything like that at all.he is still going off predraft reports.when you get paid write you have to come up with something

also if long gest one of those punches on the speed rushers that rusher is out for the count on that play. so its a 50 50 vs those guys.

It was reported from Minicamp that he was having some issues with the speed rush. I think that is where they're getting the info.

Let them get some pads on and we will see. Lots of guys look great or bad on the line until the pads go on.

The only thing I could find that referenced Jake Long struggling against speed rushers was the June 8 Sunday Mini Camp Report
http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2008/06/sundays-minicam.html
Much like the scrimmage, Jake Long was up and down, and has been all weekend. One minute he was standing up Kelvin Smith, the next he was put on roller skates by Porter. I can see him struggling against speed on the edge, especially from the 3-4 schemes, but he should be fine by the end of training camp.

thanks Geforce. it was a very good read.porter has put alot of people on skates.then he says he should get it down by the end of camp?i would be very very happy if that happens.then we draft another tackle next year.there are 2 big beasts coming out.
