I know when it comes to serious accidents football takes a back seat, but when an accident like that happens less than a week before the draft it makes it even worse for the kid. That could be the end of him having any chance in the NFL.

If memory serves me right the Fins talked to him at the combine

They also worked him out at Davie.

I hope he's okay. I had high hopes in that he'd be a steal this draft. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and we can get him as an UDFA

Update: LSU’s Byrd Remains In Stable Condition, Injuries Detailed

Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 20, 2009, 12:52 p.m.
LSU wide receiver Demetrius Byrd remains in stable condition at the intensive care unit of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital after being involved in a car accident on Sunday while traveling to church. The NFL draft prospect has been receiving hourly CAT scans to monitor his condition, according to a source close to the situation.
Per the source, Byrd injured his shoulder and ear lobe and incurred several scratches and bruises on his face and arms. The severity of those injuries is unknown at this time.
Miami Central coach Telly Lockett told us this morning that he has been informed that Byrd, 22, is going to be okay.
Hospital officials have reported no change in Byrd’s condition since earlier this morning when he was listed as stable.
The Miami native has been projected as a second-day draft pick.

Damn that's tough. I've been hyping this kid up for quite awhile...and I liked the way he played. Hopefully he can heal up perfectly.
