He's having Surgery

OOOOOOOOOOO

that was close!!!!!!

typical Riley...when the going gets tough, Pat takes off!

i guess this couldnt wait?

He was told to have it done last summer.

He would have been in a wheelchair in a couple of years if he hadn't done it.

Basketball coaches don't sit on their ***** like football coaches.

Basketball coaches are moving around and active in practice...every day.

This is something that HAS to be done, and it HAS to be done as soon as possible. Instead of knocking Pat Riley, why don't some of you get a clue and go do a bit of research? This has been an ongoing problem for Pat for a while now, and it's only going to get WORSE.........Pat's knee was locking up, and staying locked. Do you guys know how much PAIN that is? I do, my Uncle is in the medical world. He's been taking injections and stuff like that.

I'm not surprised by the news at all. He should be back before the playoffs.

"I've got floating chips," he said. "I've got three or four things that have been floating in there for years. If I get it done, it'll be a day. There's just going to scope it and flush it out.

OT - This isn't something out've the ordinary either. Larry Brown took one a few years ago.

I'm never seen one football coach run practice from a chair nor have I ever seen one sit in a chair on the sideline so what are you talking about?

You know what I am talking about.

I'll Explain it to you:

In Camp..yes they are active.

During the season...

Monday.....Film study...playbook reduction.

Tuesday....skeleton drills...film study...playbook reduction.

Wednesday....walk through...film study...game plan build.

Thursday...Team Meetings....Walk through...film study....game plan finalization.

Friday...walk through...film study.....

Saturday...film study.

During all of those drills a coach is standing with his position coaches and the most they do "physically" is to walk onto the field to explain what somebody did wrong.

What you see during training camp only happens during training camp.

Basketball coaches ......have to constantly be teaching on the court.... (Riley is famous for 3 hour daily practices) that entails standing constantly and pivoting and moving.....that causes wear and tear on your hip.

There is no comparison between the phyisical aspect of coaching in the NBA to that of the NFL.

Okay Section, but you act like the NBA Coaches never sit down at their desks etc.

Of course they do...but they are active in practice EVERY DAY.

Shula had a golf cart in 1994 remember? He was 65. he played sparingly in his day. (college)

Riley is 60...he had a pro BB career..it's his hip.....

it sucks to get old.
