OTA Interviews: Jordan , Tannehill and Lazor plus others

Lazor sounds like a head coach. So glad he is here. Love that he focuses so much on teaching.

Yup, I wish he were the HC instead of Philbin. He has inspired more confidence in ONE press conference than Philbin has in 2 years.

Lazor definitely sounds and looks like head coaching material. If Tannehill is the real deal and this teams plays as well as they are capable Lazor probably won't be here for too long.

That would be just our luck. Our OC moves on to be the next Sean Payton while we are stuck with Failbin... :|

Well if other teams are wooing our OC then that means we will look good which means "Failbin" should get a lot of the credit for both the team and being smart enough to hire Lazor.

I thought the same thing. I felt far more confidence, control and leadership from him in that one 10 minute interview than I ever felt from Philbin. If this offense takes off I wouldn't be surprised if he gets poached pretty early for a head coaching gig. Color me impressed.

Lazor is young, smart and dynamic. He really inspires confidence. I think we made a great hire and I believe he will do great things for Tannehill and the rest of the offense. I do get the feeling that he is using us as a springboard to get a head coaching gig. I hope we can keep him in the fold long term. If Philbin doesn't show a lot more this season he's out. Let's see how Lazor does before we annoint him as our next head coach but I sure am impressed so far.

In Lazor's interview he defined his "up tempo" as being the time after they break the huddle. Basically not a lot of go go just get to the center and hike the ball quickly so the D has little or no time to adjust. He also stated he would be pissed if the QB is not getting the ball out of his hands quickly. No patting the ball or holding it waiting on the play to develop. If the no 1 target is one on one expect him to win the battle and get him the ball quickly.

I was joking FF. Pollian said that Miami had to get Wallace 1 on 1, and that Lazor would do that. Seems to be right. Strangely enough, Foles held the ball too long (over 4 seconds) on 6 sacks, as opposed to Tannehill's 3 on many mor throws.

What I found interesting from the Lazor PC was that he wanted Tannehill/QB's to play at game speed and that the WR's would catch up to them.

This is such a great coaching point. QB's need to set the tone and lead and folks at times can get caught up with the vocal side of leadership and being the first one in the building etc. etc. but leading on the field in ways like this has a massive impact on driving the offence forward.

Also great to hear his approach on coaching as in, teach and then demand. I'd heard about Lazor while at Virginia that he was very pedantic on how to coach QB's on QB sneaking and really drilled it.

The proof will be determined in the success of the Offense, but I'm very excited about this guy and see a great coach in the making.

One press conference and one practice no one on this site saw and he's the next Don Shula.....what the hell is going on around here...

We are getting a little ahead of ourselves I must admit but after Sherman this guys style is refreshing to say the least.
Hopefully it translates into a exciting , high scoring offense but only time will tell.

I can't speak for anyone else, but in my case when I am desperate I fantasize a lot (about football and other things) :chuckle:

I am excited as well and hope this propels Ryan the the rest of the offense into this millennium and he may end up a great coach, but lets at least give him a game or two before anointing him Vince Lombardi Shula Walsh Jr.

That must be it SW :idk:

It's got to be better than what we did at the end of last season so let's take a leap of faith so to speak.
