Maybe it's simple precaution but given his injury history it would be good to know he's fully fit.

Smart? Not sure I follow if he was fully healthy at end of year which believe he was..

I think they want to be careful with him because they know how instrumental he will be to the offense. Dez Bryant just resumed to football activities and he had the same injury. Better to play it safe than have a setback like Dez did last year.
