Tony Sparano has been anything but soft on his team during a demanding off-season.
But Sparano also knows how to reward a job well done.
Pleased with his players’ performance during mini-camps and OTAs, Sparano decided to begin the break between now and training camp a day early.
“My message to the team awhile ago is they don’t have one more OTA (on Friday) and that I was really pleased with the combination of work that we had,” Sparano said a little while ago. “So I gave them tomorrow off.

Pretty good stuff

Great read. Obviously we have a long ways to go and their is as much to be pessimistic about as their is optimistic in reports like that. The main thing to remember is Those were all passing plays and all our superstar HB's was doing was running routes. It will be a major differance when things are full pads and contact.

This is how you get players to play for you, you show them their hard work is appreciated. This will come back 10 fold, however he needs to be just as firm when they screw up. If I were Tony, I would have made the WR's stay for the extra practice...god knows they need it.
It said all the younger players are expected to stick around and work. I would say all the WR's and QB's have no chance of leaving and expecting to make the team.

I was in the middle of doing something else and just read what was in the first post.

It is at the bottom of the read. It would be nice if everyone hung around for the 6 weeks and worked together IMO. We have had one heck of a roster turn around and I think it would be good for leadership and familiarity if they did. It will be interesting to see who hangs around out of the vets.

I agree, but the idea of Sparano showing the players some love is just as important to the big picture as the players getting comfortable with one another. I'll take anything positive. Besides with the heat down there and the huge work load their about to dive into, I think time off is a good call.

Don't forget about our air-conditioned practice bubble Wayne built a couple years ago. They can work and stay out of the heat and bad weather. I mean that was the whole thing Dick Satan was crying about when Wayne built it.

Hey, it's no fun when one of your assistants gets zapped.

I hope they get away from football for 3-4 weeks because once training camp starts its all football until January. I think or what I'm reading, seems to be the guys have worked really hard the past 4 mos. I cant wait until the hitting starts.

exactly! im not going to get excited about the whole deal until the hitting starts. thats where you see if you have players or big huge twats. great they're connecting on some passes, but heres the sad truth...our wideouts are still dropping balls KNOWING they aren't going to get hit!
