about our 1st pick, don't you think we're probably going to take more defensive secondaries over QB's, cuz if I remember correctly at the beginning of the preseason, didn't Saban said he's not comfortable starting young QB's because they have a tendency in the NFL to get overexcited or scared,

I don't believe I've ever read a quote where Saban said that. In fact, there is some evidence that if Smith had fallen to us with the 2nd pick, we would have drafted a QB last off season.

I believe this year, we will only take a QB when the value is there for the pick and that may not be in the first round,

I could have sworn I heard something about him worrying about younger QB's in the NFL(of course unless he gets Jemarcus Russel, considering Saban coached him)

Saban had stated that he would've considered Alex Smith last year. Rodgers no because he's a Tedford Qb and we already had one. I'm pretty sure he'll either make an attempt for Leinart this year or Brady Quinn next year.

I agree about the QB, but i do think we will draft a DB or OLB early

Saban NEVER said he didn't want rodgers because he is a tedford qb and we already had one... that is the stupidest thing I have heard.

Notice I only said Saban quoted on Smith. Rodgers was my opinion.

I don't see Saban going for Leinart. He will cost way too much from where we will draft. I really like the idea of Croyle in the 3rd. I think that Jonathan Scott, OT, Texas should be our first pick if availible.

Sorry what do you mean , a Tedford QB

I have faith that Nick will take the best value in a player when he picks, moving around in the draft is necessary to make sure that the team at least has some need for the player. My gut feeling is that LT is still very much in play, that CB or S are also good possibilities, and that LB will also get some consideration. I'd be shocked to see the pick used on RB (duh), WR, TE, or QB unless value at QB is there -- it doesn't appear to be there at this moment. DE, DL, or other OL positions fall somewhere in between in my mind.

Even if he had said that, it wouldn't mean that he wouldn't take one, just that he wouldn't start one.

And if you read that article about Lou Saban that discussed how similar their philosophies were, you might have noticed that LS felt his failing was the result of never getting that franchise QB.

A Qb who has in one way or the other been mentored by Coach Jeff Tedford. Examples include AJ Feeley, Joey Harrington, Akili Smith, etc. Usually they suck in the pros.

carr and boller are two more i think. they both stink.

just one little comment about a QB, what year is Jemarcus Russel, and if he is draft-eligible and does go, will Saban take him due to Saban coached Russel?

I think JR is a true sophomore, which means he needs one more year before he would be able to enter the draft.
