It's interesting to note that our offense has almost completely been rebuilt in the past 2 off seasons. And there isn't a single player on the offense who has been in the league more than 4 years. In the past 2 offseasons we have lost the following starters on offense: Daunte Culpepper, Trent Green, Cleo Lemon, Cory Schlesinger, Darian Barnes, Chris Chambers, Marty Booker, Wes Welker, Randy McMichael, LJ Shelton, Chris Liwienski, Rex Hadnot, Cory Lekerker, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple others, add to the list if you want. Anyway, it's left us with this

Projected starting line-up***(Based on players on the roster before the draft)
QB - John Beck (1 year NFL experience)
RB - Ronnie Brown (3 years NFL experience)
FB - Reagan Mauia (1 year NFL experience)
WR - Ted Ginn Jr. (1 year NFL experience)
WR - Ernest Wilford (4 years NFL experience)
TE - Anthony Fasano (2 years NFL experience)
LT - Jake Long (Rookie)
LG - ???
C - Samson Satele (1 year NFL experience)
RG - Justin Smiley (3 years NFL experience)
RT - Vernon Carey (4 years NFL experience)

What does this mean? I don't know exactly. It means we have a very young offense with a lot of POTENTIAL. It's important though not to confuse potential with talent. I think that we have built a solid foundation of young promising players but I think it's going to take a year or two for this offense to become a cohesive unit. But for once in the past decade we have a young offense and all of our guys save Carey are signed at least through 2010. It's amazing what a couple offseasons can do. Hopefully tomorrow we can pick up a WR and a G and the rebuilding of our young offense will be complete. And if we're lucky and we brought in quality players by the 2010 season at the latest we can be one of the most productive (and youngest) offenses in the league.

I can't believe I'm this excited about our offense. It's been so long since there's been anything to be excited about on this side of the ball.

We are in full scale blow up and rebuilding mode, this is a good thing!

True, everywhere you turn there is somebody young filling in that position. Within three years this offense should really be clicking. I'm really excited to see this offensive line come into their own and stay strong for years to come.

I think the Dolphins will also continue to get younger on defense within that time. Jason Taylor will likely be gone, maybe today. Joey Porter won't be around that long. Jason Fergusson will hopefully be replaced with a good player within a year or two. This team is being built to succeed for a long time.
