"The Dolphins announced that they have promoted Jonathan Woodard from the practice squad.

Woodard was a seventh-round pick by the Jaguars in 2016 and missed his entire rookie year after tearing his Achilles. He was waived by Jacksonville last September and split the season on practice squads in Atlanta and Miami. He had eight tackles and a sack for the Dolphins in the preseason this year."

At least he knows our system and should be able to plug in to give our first team a breather. Curious that we haven't called Langford who also looked good in the preseason.

How does he fit into a rotation with 4 other DT's? Hayes fit in because he rotated outside at DE on running down as well.

He did a very solid job in the preseason. High motor. I think he'll fit well into our rotation and do a good job for us.

Think they resigned him to the PS with the twonopenings created by this shuffling.

As of yesterday they were still in the process of re-signing him - don't know if it's a done deal yet:

"The Dolphins auditioned veteran end Kony Ealy and Robert Ayers on Tuesday but didn’t sign either and ultimately preferred Woodard, who impressed the team in training camp and preseason before being cut Labor Day weekend.

Woodard, who’s 6-6 and 271 pounds, was drafted by Jacksonville in the seventh round out of Central Arkansas in 2016, tore his Achilles’ tendon in training camp, was cut in September 2017, spent two weeks last October on the Falcons’ practice squad and has been in Miami’s system since joining the Dolphins’ practice squad early last December.

The Dolphins released him Labor Day weekend but quickly re-signed him to the practice squad. He hasn’t appeared in an NFL game.

The Dolphins also are expected to resign Cameron Malvaeux to their practice squad, according to a league source.

Malvaeux played in four games for Miami last season, was cut Labor Day weekend and then signed to the practice squad but cut two weeks ago when Miami signed long snapper Lucas Gravelle when John Denney was nursing an injury.

Now Malvaeux is soon to be back with the Dolphins’ practice squad, after working out for the Colts on Monday. With Denney healthy, Gravelle was waived from the practice squad."

Looks like we signed Martrell Spaight (LB from Washington) and released Bryce Petty as well. Glad to finally have him off the roster.

I liked him on pre season games too. Hope he can develop as we need a DE with Hayes out.

I believe Bryce Petty was cut on September 1st when they went to 53. Waived injured (oblique)

Wow! That three cone time was excellent, shuttle not too bad either; maybe this guy does have some potential.

Should be good against the run, and it isn't like we are going against Russell Wilson, Brady is the perfect QB for him to face. Just get those long arms up in the air kid. Size and length are great.

This could be a blessing in disguise, if he continues to develop. Branch, Wake, and Mr. Mermaids will likely not be on the team in a few years (possibly next year), youth is needed at the position. Hayes is a very good football player, but to get severely injured on the play that he did shows that it was a matter of when, and not if. I'd be surprised if he plays another snap in the NFL which is a shame, but that's what injuries and age do to finely tuned athletic machines.
